This is true Fran. Unlisted(private) videos does not show up in the channel for subscribers. Like this one in my channel that is private: https://youtu.be/J_6lSSQXwWo

It seems like unlisted videos can only be seen by those who have the link - it shouldn't show up in the videos list for subscribers. (Just been looking this up since reading your response made me double check!)

Fran, you can see your own private videos when you're logged in to your Youtube account. I believe if you log out, you won't see your private videos.

Well, I for one, don't mind paying for videos others can see. Go for it dear one!

Some of my other artists posts password-protected vimeo videos.

Other patreon clients post videos not on youtube. I am not sure how they do it, but I know it can be done on patreon. Now, I do not know if that content is then actualy hosted on youtube. Perhaps they have a server and post mp4s to that server and post the links to same on their patreon page.

All true, but unlisted videos are not private, and any YT subscriber can see the unlisted video in the "videos" list like they would any other video I upload there. Unlisted just means it will not show up on any of the YT searches or suggested videos lists. When you set up your Patreon account they ask you to upload (to Patreon) your introduction - so they do host videos - but just no more than that, which is disappointing. I wanted to do something with music like I did in my radio days that would just get flagged by YT if I uploaded it, but I will do something. It just won't be private for just Patrons.

Yep unlisted is the way to do it- bigclivedotcom posts most of his videos to patreon as unlisted before publishing a day or two later.

Agree. You post the "secret link" here first so your Patrons can run off and admire you and enjoy your video, then you make the link public after a while. Easy peasy

Can you not just use an unlisted youtube video?

I'm pretty sure several people shared unlisted videos on here :)
