There are many possible developers and fixers, each with their own effects.
I do wonder why you couldn't use ammonium thiosulphate (rather than sodium thiosulphate) as this is commonly used as a rapid fixer for silver halide photography. And you can get a 'hypo clearing agent' product which apparently reduces the necessary rinse times as well.
I'm guessing the fixer is KCN? (wrote this before it was shown in the vid)
