Finely granulated silica doesn't sound good for your lungs.. On a positive side though, I see you have a Technics RS1500 - lovely machine..
Fran Blanche
Absolutely! You can put in whatever you wish - with my thanks.

Fran could you consider a $2 pledge? I'm unemployed and $5 is a stretch, $2 is abit more generous. Best wishes.

Fran all I can do is send you my best wishes and a virtual hug.

What EPA?

This is Philly. No one wets down demolition here. They dry saw everything everywhere. Signs? LOL!

This is quite disturbing... How far away is the demolition? Are they spraying water to minimize dust? Are they monitoring air quality? What do all the posted signs say? The fibrous mystery pile you showed would put your demolition at the very least a class IV hazard requiring strict training, certification, handling and monitoring. Please don't fool yourself thinking a homemade air filter will protect your health, dust & asbestos are serious hazards, and not just for you but the workers getting paid $7.25/hr to kill themselves young. The asbestos information hotline for your area is 215-685-7576 they will be very happy to help you.
Fran have you thought of testing for asbestos in your building? <a href="https://www.homedepot.com/p/PRO-LAB-Asbestos-Test-Kit-AS108/202731785" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.homedepot.com/p/PRO-LAB-Asbestos-Test-Kit-AS108/202731785</a>

Hats off to your hat! Fran fashion for free!

I'm glad you've put in the positive pressure system in place. It would be nice if you could get the filter before your blower. It will keep blower cleaner. Presently , if you get any air leaks before the filter, the unfiltered air gets pushed into the room.

I think in Germany you had a good chance of just calling the police to stop the demolition. The air pollution is really crazy. I'm happy that I moved to the countryside recently.
You really need to get the EPA involved. Take them to the fucking cleaners!

Yikes! As someone with advanced lung disease, your situation is triggering me. Please get out quickly. So pleased you have your filter.
Yeah, that's probably a hose off a disused spacesuit. Question is, did you have to rip the cover off the lease agreement to gaffertape to it? ;)
There is Fran, but she's not in the lab :(. Love the "seemingly" qualifier. I had negative pressure in my house, and it can cause various issues. Good luck.

Your filter mod reminds me of what the crew of Apollo 13 had to do with the CO2 scrubber filters. They would be proud of you Fran. :)

Regular vacuum cleaner would've taken care of that fly.
Fran doesn't have a chance against well financed agendas...

All those ducts in your apartment remind me of the apartment in the movie Brazil.
Fran Blanche
That was the plan! They moved up the demolition 30 days - I got notice yesterday. Great people.

I still think you would have a good case for stopping the demolition until you're gone, or taking care of the asbestos first.
Iβve lost track where you are right now, Fran, in terms of your moving. I thought you were going to move all your belongings out of the building before they were going to demolish. Iβm sure many of us would also like to know if you found a new location for your lab.
