Hi Fran. There should be a fuse in the charging cable you made? If that cable would short to ground your seat will be on fire. I would try another battery to see if you get more than two years? The 8 meg load will take a very long time to drain the battery.

Fran plays the guitar, designs awesome pedals and rides a motorbike! Too awesome. Great video, love the idea bringing out the battery to an XT connector, brilliance right there. When you mentioned a strap, I immediately thought, "just chuck a screw back in and yank it out with pliers. No no, in fact Fran had the same idea, but just better with way more elegance. Can you stick a solar panel w'charger somewehere and run a wire to that XT connector just to counter the parasictic drain?

Fran rides a motorcycle too?! How does she keep getting cooler? Great bike for cruising around on - my first was a '85 Nighthawk with the big square headlight. Loved that thing.

ahh my father used to have a VT600C Shadow. I rode that before I could afford my own bike. This V2 was smooth as silk. I love those things. I still have the workshop manual b/c my father isn't too much of a gearhead so I serviced it for him most of the time.

I was going to ask if you had considered a full electric conversion but, considering your current run of luck with batteries, this might not be a good idea.

It's not a silly video Fran, it's interesting for anyone who's recently bought that bike. I have to say it's a pretty awkward job, I like you removal and insertion strap and the handy charging adapters, true engineering solutions.

Very cool! My first motorcycle was an old Shadow 750 that looked like it had rolled down a cliff. I traded a guy $50 and a Roland orchestral synth module for it, and I think he got the better deal. But I spend the summer rebuilding it from the crankcase up and learned so much about motorcycles in the process. It's an experience I will never forget!
