It must seem very alien to pour yr heart out to a camera with possibly no other real person in yr lab, yet the fb you eventually get from all of us must be equally dramatic to you in the opposite way. So my question is how does being a vlogger on a specialist subject work with yr hopes, dreams, disasters, emotions, and technical brain power? Is your cam a cellfone using its front lens so you can see how you appear on screen live? Does that count as 'someone else in the room with you'?

How do you read and understand schematics? You make it look so easy, but, everytime I try to read one, I can't figure out what/where anything is on the actual device.

Dear Fran! I would like to get more into working on my old tube amps (and building new ones from kits)! All the literature I've read has strongly encouraged me to use a variac when testing, for safety purposes. I don't have one and I'm not sure how to start searching. Do you have any perhaps-less-than-obvious advice on variacs (like, for example, 'don't buy one of those new Chinese variacs on Amazon, spend the extra time and find a vintage American one') ...? Any features that I'd really need seeing as I'm going to work on tube amplifiers? Thanks!

Hi Fran! I received an ad for a signal generator that has a minimum frequency of 1nHz. Am I correct in my calculations that this is a sine wave with a period of 30.84 years? I believe I have a voltage reference that has a higher frequency output! Can anyone think of an application for such a low frequency? (I thought an analogue estimation of Saturn's orbit?)

OK, Here's a good one for ya. Frantone was a thing. You made quite a variety of pedals. How does audio tinkerie-fiddling work on a bench "just playing" level? I think it might be fun to take an audio signal and change tone, add reverb, maybe isolate specific tones, and send it on to an amplifier w/o frying my receiver or radio. I'm sure I could just look this up but it would be fun to hear from someone w/ practical been-there-done-that skills. Not asking for trade secrets or anything, just an overview. It would be fun.
