🕑 Added 2021-09-11 01:10:51 +0000 UTCOh, the endless phone call with the owner where he just shouted at me for 10 minutes and refused to listen to a word I said, and told me to get out of his apartment, and treated me as though I was to blame for his ceiling collapsing on the bed. Fortunately, the Hyatt down the street was sympathetic to my horror story and gave me a room post haste. So, I'm now cozy in brand new digs... And so ends Day One! More to come...

Fran, that’s terrible. Way back when I traveled as part of my job, AirBnB was just getting going. I imagined it as kind of a posh way of lodging. Glad I never got the opportunity. Yuck! You have my sympathy. Hope the rest of your trip goes better.

Strange... I don't know what the problem is here. I mean, in all my business travels, I've learned to accept that waterlogged ceiling collapses are to be expected. Don't worry, travel some more and you'll get used to it. I usually sleep in my plastic garment bag to avoid getting wet.

I never use AirBnB. VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owners) is more stable and you know you're dealing with the owner, not someone who may be breaking the rules and subletting their apartment for desperation cash.
