I remember vacuum forming stuff at school. We had a big ol' machine that was about A2, and we'd use to muck about trying to find the right shape that would piece the plastic while still letting the rest of is suck down. Harder than it sounds Cheers Fran.

I remember at work one time we used one of those green scrubbing pads to act as an air filter and it worked quite well. If you can't find metal mesh immediately that might work also.

So glad you've got back into The Phactory Fran. I remember using a vacuum former in "Technical Studies" (Woodwork / Metalwork at school back in the 70s. It was bigger than that, something like 15" * 15" bed. Good fun though. Yes with more practice I'm sure you'll find perfection. One tip I seem to remember keep the heat on right up to the end when you switch the vacuum on.

I remember a neighbor having one of the kid versions of this back in the 1960s. I also remember burning the heck out of our fingers with it. I always thought it was "Vac-u-Form™," a trademark of Mattel or someone.
