I wonder what the makers of the bulb would say if told their bulb would be displayed and tested on the Internet 106 years in the future?

Due to the proliferation of Embedded Computers in cars since the early 90's, age related data loss to Flash/EEPROM firmware in embedded systems is already of concern in the collector car arena. I can see it eventually "bricking" many if not all contemporary devices. If we don't find a way to restore the original firmware soon, they may end up as nothing more than decorative door stops and museum pieces.

Thank you for sharing a bit of history. Would have been nice to see how much current it was drawing at that voltage, should have been almost twice the normal current at half the normal voltage. The variac great for such a precious item.

I wonder, will it be vacuum, or filled with an inert (noble) gas, eg Argon ? It is a beautiful piece of history and you are quite correct to use a lower voltage, as these must be as rare as hen's teeth! Thank you for sharing it with us.

Obviously hand-made. Must have been expensive 106 years ago. I guess the tungsten doesn't age if it's within a very good vacuum environment. I wonder how long that filament would be if you stretched it all out straight. Seems like a lot of filament in there!
