Just when you thought you knew everything there was to know about flannel boards, this little 16mm reel comes along to put you in your place! Yes, long after you really get what flannel boards are all about, this film just keeps on deep diving.... probably more than I really wanted to know about flannel boards... but hey - in 1957 these were a really big deal!

A flannelboard is made of cloth. Different types of cloth include cotton; silk; canvas; burlap; flannel; nylon; denim; linen; and satin. A flannelboard, however, is made out of flannel cloth. The flannelboard that you buy from a store is most likely to be square. If you are making your own flannelboard, you can make it square also. You may choose to make your flannelboard some other shape. Another shape might better suit the type of lesson that you plan to teach with the flannelboard that you intend to make. This will depend on how you intend to use your flannelboard... (I mean, WOW. I know, it's probably impossible for a film to put this topic across with any real razzle-dazzle. But this one fails to even achieve "ra.")

That opaque projector brought back memories of "classroom tech" from my school years from the early 1960s through the mid 1970s. Including those audio filmstrip projectors that used beeps on a record to advance the projector to the next frame. And, of course, overhead projectors and 16mm projectors. Back when schools had "AV Clubs", the original geek/nerd dens, where students did basic maintenance on the equipment and shuffled it between classrooms.

You are dead right. It’s truly amazing to see how complicated we can make things while making them more obtuse and passive. Now we have graphics arts departments that make sure the approved branding logo is on every powerpoint slide in the “deck”. The first time I heard that term used by a talking suit I asked then where they learned to use a keypunch. (cue smoke from ears)
