Its just the evolution of capitalism eating it's host. I prefer to just make my own stuff because I can control quality and cost.

I've also had to change what I eat because of artificial ingredients that have replaced "real food" ingredients. Very sad, I feel the same uncertainty.

I dislike change and it unsettles me. So many times, foodstuffs disappear or are changed, it seems to me, totally unnecessarily. All kinds of products, shampoo, soap, toilet paper... It's almost like makers get a vindictive pleasure in tinkering with things that I've spent considerable effort in choosing.

I definitely understand the favourite foods thing, my heart always sinks when something I enjoy has the phrase 'new improved recipe' on the packaging, as that almost certainly means it is no longer fit for human consumption. But as long as they keep making marmite I won't starve.

This one I found quite upsetting, uncertainty has very much been the story of my life. Not in a way that most people would consider traumatic, but for those of us that don't like change it is tough. I definitely feel your ain on this one Fra.

I have similar struggles. For me, this gets tangled up in the maxim, "Happiness is having something to look forward to." There is a danger in investing too much in anticipation only to be disappointed. It is also corrosive to deny yourself anything to look forward to. A third way is working towards some Buddhist or absurdist enlightenment. It is tough to find a balance.
