So... ...its just me that loves to watch flickering neon lamps then? Well OK, perhaps not in a clock display, but on indicator lamps I find it cool, especially on a rainy night. Bit like having a candle or an open fire.

I'd be tempted, as an experiment, to use a variac and run at about 140-145VAC for about 24 hours to see if the neon lamps improve. But that might overheat the motor.
