Can't help wondering if the odd segmentation was simply a graphic artist who didn't really understand how 7 segment displays work. I seem to recollect a lot of things in the 70s which were very poor approximations of something more technical, especially when trying to make very old technology pass for something newer.

Very clever mechanics. I'm sure it was hand-made back in the 70s and I'm sure it was made in Malaysia where labor was super-cheap in 1975.

I must admit that for a few seconds I thought the numbers looked like a cool segmented led display, until I realised the 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9 from the thumbnail and first few seconds of the video all have different segments.

Nice save of a fun piece of 1970s "hi tech"! Hard to believe there was a time that all of the gears and motors were cheaper to make than the digital display it was trying (not too hard) to emulate... Cheers from Canada!

I actually had that clock! Really clever the way they flip the tiles to get more numbers squeezed in there. I actually remember taking it apart when it finally died in the late 70’s I think.
