These gas discharge displays were used in avionics as they were sunlight readable when the proper filter was placed in front of them. They can get very hot, though. But they have a wonderful orange glow. I've seen a lot of custom-designed version of this display, which was probably very expensive. The Remote Tuning Unit I sent you has a huge custom gas discharge display module behind the front filter and displays alpha-numeric lines of characters. These can also have a long life expectancy. Driven at their maximum, the temperature gets hot, and if let in that state indefinitely, the segments eventually start to get "mushy" before becoming dim. Another classic 70s display tech item perfectly presented. Keep it up!

Off the scale cool yet again! I'm fairly certain remember those Intersil chips from early 80s UK or European electronics, probably a hifi or possibly a VCR.

I remember the 7106 & 7107. How did the 7116, 7117 differ ?

Nice! The main A/D chip shows to be a 0-200 mV input; it'd be good to see where the input pins route to. I'm suspecting they might go to the unused "header" slot on the PC board.
