A proper 'range' burns solid fuel and keeps the kitchen warm all day. Made by Aga or Rayburn, and seen most often in the farmhouse where it does everything from baking bread to drying wellies. Brits call a mere electric range the more down-to-earth 'cooker'.

Has marketing improved? The sixties people cooked up a dream they thought they could sell. It was a dumb fantasy, but one that had a basis in North American culture. At least the products they conned people into purchasing were well-built. The junk that gets glitz hyped now is mostly junk designed to fail.

No wonder Madison Ave died. They sure as fuck dont know women even in 1960, how would they ever wrap their heads around different generations. (Pardon the language but that is the mildest I could come up with on short notice. My first reaction was "Fucking fuck this fucking fuck de fuckity fuck?" just because I dont have anything more severe I can use due to limitations of English. German and French are just too soft. My Mandarin is only a few words. Russian might have an alternative?)
