🕑 Added 2024-11-26 19:19:09 +0000 UTCThis was an adventure! I took a chance on Ebay and got an unexpectedly cool display on my bench - a Telechron DigiTel mechanical digital display clock from 1974. Lets have a closer look...

I love it when you explore different display technologies!

I just might have one that is still intact minus the motor. If I find it in my storage I'd definitely love to send it your way.

If you have one that is not working that I could dissect for a video, let me know. 😊

One of my favorite mechanisms, I have that exact clock plus about 8 others that have the DigiTel mech.

Yes! Put this in a custom case and make a 12 hour video, I'll be there.

Neat clock! And Fran, have you ever counted the times you have said "Wow" to a digit(a/i)l clock face?

Seems that much of the digit "vagueness" may be due to the coarse Fresnel lens in the back. Hack in something finer, perhaps from one of those credit-card sized plastic magnifiers? Maybe replace the interior illumination with LED(s)? Ah, why be conservative? Install some WS8211 LEDs, perhaps from a cheap string of digital Christmas tree lights. 'Tis the Season!

Oh wow... that is beautiful for a 50 year old clock!
