New subscriber here. You are creating some great stuff! I'm not as negative as you on the whole sulfur dioxide idea. Yes, the long term solution is absolutely to transition to renewable energy, increase energy efficiency, and start sucking CO2 out of the ecosphere. But near term, we're killing off coral reefs (I live on a sailboat, so that ones particularly personal for me), roasting equatorial populations, and lurching towards positive feedback loops in the Arctic that could tip us into jungle planet. I understand the mitigation vs. adaptation argument, and that adaptation is a moral hazard, but...

Thanks for science news, Fran. Bringing potentially dormant living organisms from Mars back to our nice warm Earth climate really does sound like a disaster waiting to happen. It's quite extraordinary that the message and bottle survived the elements for so long! How cool to find such a time capsule. Bees are very cute. I like that you include animal/insect news. 🙂
