It may be a very different audience, but this is pretty much what happened to most of the working men's clubs in the UK. Between about 1991 and 2008 I must have gigged at every single one in Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, a fair few in North Wales, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Staffordshire. I'd say barely a third of them are still in existence.
