I just finished my first watch of the show, and man, jesus fucking christ, that last season is so goddamn dour and miserable and unsatisfying. The Hound is arguably the only character who felt like he had a believable arc and satisfying conclusion. No ludicrous half-assed heel turn moment, no out of character descent into being a fucking imbecile, just a full, real journey of redemption that concludes with his resignation to his penance. Everything else fuckin sucked dick, I cannot believe how bad this show got. It was still enjoyable in a pure id way, up to a point, but nearly everything in S8 was just straight up miserable and infuriating.
