Announcing THE PLAYERS CLUB: Felix's New Series!
🕑 Added 2025-09-02 22:00:02 +0000 UTCWe are excited to announce Felix's new series, THE PLAYERS CLUB! Ever since the Early Access release of Stick and Hoop, man has pondered the meaning of games. To some, they’re simple diversions. Games such as Spec Ops: The Line have only one medium-specific achievement in mind: to drone out a player’s fears and anxieties with constant titillation and fun. Others have much loftier goals. Seminal works like Detroit: Become Human and certain Hearts of Iron fan expansions that we cannot mention without getting Patreon banned in Germany probe into the nature of our existence, social relations, and fully weigh the virtues of robot nationalism against robot reformism.
The Players Club seeks to once and for all answer the question burning within the hearts of gamers for thousands of years: which kind of game is worse? Each season will concentrate on a series of games, with our first entry being the Metal Gear Solid series, cohosted and produced by Blowback’s Brendan James. Roger Ebert sent us to hell, but we’re going deeper. Jack Thompson, I’m already a fucktard…
Episodes will come out every Wednesday, starting with Metal Gear Solid (1998) tomorrow. The first episode will be free, the rest will be paywalled!

I'm almost 41, played MGS when it first came out. Everything about it was mind blowing. The hallway before the Cyborg Ninja fight was some creepy shit. The fight with Psycho Mantis just brought the game, and video games itself to a whole other level. It didn't give me nightmares, but I thought it was one of the coolest things I'd ever experienced in a video game.

Want to ask because im a wee lil baby (24) but did anyone here play mgs1 as a kid? Did the psycho mantis stuff break your brain? I feel like having a game character imitate meta-awareness in front of a 9 year old would give you nightmares. Especially as it seems like jt was the first case of this kind back then.
