As a person who listen to Fifth Harmony to Normani now. It might be a creature of habit thing. 5H had did this same thing Normani doing on this album. Strong, yet repetitive courses for replay value, while the versus just got you by. While the album isn't bad it feels like she played it safe. Overall, I defiantly think she could get some strong singles out of this album.

She’s more focused on the chorus than the verses and just trying to make a catchy song. But overall her song just give chorus, chorus, chorus. No verse or bridge beginning or nothing. I’ll give it a 8/10 though cuz I really expected to be disappointed to point where I get mad😭 but I can see that she’s trying and I wasn’t disappointed I actually liked the album

Also, assuming you aren't talking about the Grammys, SZA's album won Album of the Year at both the BET Awards and the Soul Train Music Awards. It also won R&B Album of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards AND Top R&B Album at the Billboard Music Awards. There is no instance where Victoria Monet's album won over SZA's. Don't lie on my good sis 😂

Kalen that's not true-- SZA's SOS won Best Progressive R&B Album while Victoria's JAGUAR II won Best R&B Album. There are two separate R&B album categories at the Grammys. Victoria did not win over SZA.

Hey Dee, I think Brandy isn't listed as a feature since she doesn't have a verse, she is just doing the background vocals on Insomnia. Like on Genius when it says Brandy's name, it has her name in italics and the lyrics she is singing in italics as well (it is mostly in the parts with parentheses around it). Just like on Doja Planet Her album, Bryson Tiller does the intro and the background vocals on "Been Like This", but he's not listed as a feature on the song.

this album, no. "Still" i think im gunna give a chance, but i feel like it would be forgettable. Maybe "tantrums" but i feel like James Blake his verse felt a bit irrelevant to the song personally. Yup also get well soon dee <3

Especially coming from an R&B artist...they're known to be vulnerable and sing about life struggles, relationships, insecurities, etc. (like SZA for example) so Normani being so surface level was really surprising. Def hope she steps it up next album

In Insomnia, Brandy was the one that did most of the harmonising in the background you said you liked. Normani also did some harmonies but it was Brandy for the most. Also it was written by both Brandy and Victoria Monet :)

Yeahh they're all super short. Which is why it was also super distracting that the bulk of the songs were chorus material. Sis literally dedicated like 10 seconds to the verses and the rest were just repeating choruses 😂

while I understood people being against wild side being included bc it’s old, when i listened to the album i felt like it matched the vibe. tbh it’s my top 3 with all yours and tantrums. besides those 2 wild wide is better than the other songs in my opinion. but overall I liked the album.

Hope you feel better Dee 🙏🏻. Really enjoyed this. Smooth, sensual R&B that feels both new and nostalgic. Tommy Brown really did his thing producing 9/13 of the songs on this album. I was familiar with his work on Ariana Grande's positions album where he produced all 19 songs, he also did Thank U Next and 7 Rings. Anyways Dopamine was worth the wait 🔥🔥

When I reacted to the album for my channel I also noted that the choruses helped elevate certain songs. For me, Distance is one of them. I felt like the versus dragged but that chorus (particularly the last one) just does it for me. Always interesting to see how music taste varies (like you loving Tantrums, cause I don’t give a single damn about that song lol). Insomnia is a favorite for me. P.s. when you reacted to Candy Paint I mentioned that I was expecting more and it was on the generic side, but that song grew on me heavy. I was singing that shit all day yesterday lmaooo 😂

I agree with you my only thing I disliked was the repetitiveness. She could have used more bridges and break downs to help them not be so repetitive, and I also agree with the single choices being crazy 😭 but overall I loved the sound she leaned into here

Liked the album, I agree with the repetitiveness , I felt like if she added something to the last chorus’s it wouldn’t elevated some of the songs. The chorus would be nice on the first listen but by the 4th listen I wished she added some new vocals or stm
