Tbh I don’t think it’s working persoanlly but it could happen. I feel like Tyla needs to have another song successful like water. Bc Rihanna her songs like SOS, Unfaithful I feel did really well because it was different from her Caribbean roots song Pon de replay, they were Pop songs. Tyla hasn’t really had another successful song like water, so I feel like maybe her switch up could boost her up. You never know 🤷🏽‍♂️ but Yh overall I don’t see anything new with her I don’t mind it but I feel like she has to switch up so wish her luck.

All amapiano doesn't sound alike though. That's like saying all rap sounds similar because the same "hip hop" tempo is used lol there are so many sub genres of amapiano with different melodies, basslines, etc. This is a Tyla problem, not an amapiano problem, imo

I agree with TJ above. Just like when Rih debuted, the Bey comparisons were heavy. Rihanna released 3 studio albums in 2 years (2005-2007) until GGGB “Umbrella” placed her in her own lane. Obviously times are different; the music industry is not what it was 20 years ago but whatever they have cookin’ for Tyla, its intent is to morph her into a SUPASTAR! What’s convincing is “Push 2 Start” is her best single release to date, imo.

I agree with you partially, unlike Chloe who we had seen previously with Halle fully clothed and selling little to no sex, Tyla I feel like came out immediately trying to be this sorta sex Symbol kind of. Even though it is pretty played out I don’t except her to change her image too early considering it works well.

This song is 🔥🔥. I feel like Tyla is only on her first album so I don’t expect much from her right away, even Rihanna’s career was a bit of a slow burn in the very beginning. As time goes on, the same thing will definitely get old which is why Rihanna eventually rebranded.. she cut her hair for the whole Good Girl Gone Bad era & started making more catchy pop music. If Tyla was smart, she would follow that same type of blueprint

I feel like the sex appeal thing with these new pop stars is that they probably aren’t that sexual of people, but labels only support female artists if they sell sex. Chloe and TYLA genuinely do no seem like very sexual ppl, yet they’re so bent on selling it despite ppl saying it looks unnatural and forced.
