jennie asked doechii to feature on her song before doechii blew up and won a grammy. Dont really understand what people mean when they say she only featured her to gain popularity when all blackpink girlies are huge both in the USA and asia. Just a great timing imo 🤷‍♀️ song sounds okay too, nothing new and sounds about the same as most modern rap/hip hop/trap songs these days.

I think empressive stretched a bit saying she was biting shes very animated similar to nicki and missy and i appreciate that she sounds like old nicki and missy but when they were on they shit she dont sound like a watered down version of them or anything like that more like someone who has took inspiration from them and made it their own thing. That was my problem with the Meghan part 2, so many interpolations and samples, basically full choruses from the original song like with this coco jones song, it sounds good without it so using the entire hook was uneeded.

Nosebleeds was ok to me. I hear Nikki on that song too, but I honestly didn't mind it. Coco could have kept this. I want to like it, but I agree the course doesn't do it for me. Jennie and Doechii, I didn't like it in the first listen. I defiantly grew on my. It's a good work out song for me.

All of these songs are on my playlists. I agree with you in regard to Coco's repetition of the Toxic verse. Could've been a 1 time and done thing, but I don't mind the song. I didn't even clock Doechii sounding like Nicki, until this video. She did, but it's ok. Talk your shit Doechii, lol. Funny because I didn't know the reference to Kanye either until I saw your recent reaction to his award tantrums. ExtraL is ok, mainly like it because of Doechii's part.

You’re so right about her sounding like Nicki tho. Ik ur late to the song but it was debated heavy if she was trying Nicki or being herself. But it’s very clear it’s the cadence in her voice, the pitch in her voice and what stuck out to me which you didn’t mention was how she ends some bars. She drags them out into almost a moan that’s VERY Nicki, very MONSTER, very roman. You hit the nail on the head. Also tho, her verse on Jennie’s song is so sonically pleasing and gives Doechii. I ain’t trying to kiss ya ass Dee but we agree on those sentiments both. If she releases song that’s her own flow, her own sentiment, her own VOICE, they work better. I understand tho tryna find ur voice as an artist and she’s Newley in the mainstream I imagine that shit is nerve-wracking so choosing a safe path makes sense. But she got her own voice it’s clear and it’s GOOD. She was the only good part of that Jennie song and it was giving HER. been listening to doechii for years and my main "issue" with her now is that she still sounds like other people and hasnt really found her voice. this was ok when she was smaller, but if you are going mainstream and you sound like other people still its a bit concerning imo. and i dont just mean nicki but other mc's from back in the day. i think she can do it tho

Hope you arrive safely to LA, Dee! I agree with you about Coco Jones. She looks great but she doesn't know how to make interesting, progressive, eclectic R&B music. Everything she's put out is very substandard and mediocre and too focused on an old school traditional sound as opposed to something more modern and innovative. For me she's in the same tier as Muni Long, Chloe Bailey, Normani, etc... they're talented but they dont know how to write the way Victoria Monet, Tems and Tinashe do.

To just provide more info, Jennie’s the main rapper of the group and every member has left their company (solo-wise) and been venturing on their solo projects and has releasing music that’s truly beyond “kpop”. She just released her debut album Ruby and even the Grammy’s praised it before it came out so I applaud her extremely for it🙏

I'm a BIG Coco Jones fan and I definitely am OVER the oversexualized videos and aesthetics. For Coco she was always more sultry than oversexualized, which is great, because she gave that old school R&B vibe, which was really needed in R&B🔥🔥🔥🔥 FOR COCO, its refreshing and exciting to see her take this sexy route for a bit! Funnily enough, the song you said she sounds more like herself on is the song where she makes a direct Nicki reference (“keys to the Benz” from Bottoms Up). I don’t care for the discourse myself. I think Doechii is unique enough to stand out as her own artist.
