Poll for illustration #63
🕑 Added 2019-07-03 06:13:18 +0000 UTCIt's finally time for a new poll! It's been a while since the last one, so I'm glad to be able to set up a fresh one. I did do a little bit of a culling of some of the less popular options from the previous poll, or ones I'm not quite in the mood for, so I hope you've followed my advice and haven't gotten too attached to specific ones. If I did remove something you were hoping for, I hope you'll forgive me.
Find the thumbnails below that you like best, and give them a vote! You can vote for just one or for several, it's up to you. And if you're curious about which illustration I'll be working on while this poll is running, check out the results of the previous poll.
I know a few of you weren't excited by the result of that poll. I hope this new poll will work out better for you. I'd like everyone to be happy, I really do. At the same time, I do have to present ideas that I'm personally into and inspired to make, instead of just what I think everyone's okay with, and that does sometimes mean I won't make everyone happy. I have to be a little bit selfish in that regard to make sure I enjoy this job for as long as possible. :)
Oh, and thank you for the kind comments on the latest illustration. I slide my eyeballs across each and every comment you write, and I appreciate every single one of them! You're all great.

I think it's great that you make this thumbnails and focus on what inspires you and interests you because I'm sure that will translate into better paintings than if you tried to force something just because it's what your fans want. To be honest you are a big inspiration to me, including your art style, the subjects that you paint, and the way you run your patreon.

4 does nothing for me. Haha. 5 looks good because I'm interested to see the amazing looking background! I definitely prefer the camera being a bit closer to the action though, so I chose 3 and 6.

Iβm finding I love your atmospheric and amazing backgrounds almost as much as the happy people. 5 looks fucking amazing. And Phoksy, Iβm also yearning for #4 to get some love. And poor shower man. Still voting for #7 even though I know that it's in vain. That said, I like #6 a lot (gel people!!!) and #5's background/setting looks really intriguing.

Thank you, Matty, I'm glad you like them. :) I think it's a subjective thing though. I feel like there's potential for interesting things in close-ups as well, depending on what it is you're looking for in an illustration. In fact, some of the close-ups I've done have been among my most popular illustrations, and by quite a large margin too.

I think that the reason some of us are disappointed by the poll results is that sometimes the winning thumbnail doesn't have all of the potential that it could for a Calm painting. That being said you do an excellent job of context and environment.
