Development Update #36 - December 11, 2017

Before I talk about the game, I want to talk about Patreon's decision on passing on the fees to the Patrons. Or rather, I don't want to talk about it, but since Patreon has made the decision, I have to.
Every Patron got an e-mail from patreon, telling them about the changes, and I don't want to go in-depth into this, we've had enough Patreon drama over here in the last months.
I just want to say that if you guys end up removing your pledges because of Patreon's fee changes, I understand, I won't take it personally.
But just to be clear, I'd much rather pay the fees myself, than see people leave because of it.
However, from what I've heard, Patreon realized their mistake with this (not the idea itself, just the 'rollout') and they are working on making it better. No idea what that means, but that's that.
Now with that out of the way, let's talk Holiday Special!
So I wanted to make the special episode a bit more interesting than going through a linear story. So you'll be able to choose who to interact with during the stay in the lodge. I'm making bit of variations on the evening scenes, based on some choices in the daytime scenes.
Every character will have normal and lewd scenes as well.
For the mad scientist tier, I'll add some extra goodies into the release as well.
For the Elite tier... well, check the poll I'm going to post after this one!
By the way, I still owe you a special render. I'm working on it, but the theme proved to be a bit of a challenge and I had to scrap the first version.
Last week I promised to talk about EP10 in this update. I want to finish the Holiday Special as soon as possible so I'll still have some time to work on EP10 this month.
It will have the new UI in it, most definitely.
I figured out the how the 'Gallery' system should work. Basically, it's going to be a scene replay, categorized by characters. So for example, if you've seen Alice's Obey path scenes, you can replay those scene anytime in the Gallery. The True Love path however, will be locked until you play the game and experience the scenes in their original form.
(it's going to make better sense in the game than this rambling I'm doing now)
I also have one more feature planned for the Gallery, but more on that later. I can't just give away everything in one go, can I? ;)
Oh, one more thing! I'll try to get the Holiday Special out before Christmas.

Not to get ahead of ourselves as the situation stabilizes, but have you given any further thought to your future projects? I've got a few.... itches.... that could use scratching. 👮♀️ 🥛 🧜♀️ 😅

Hi, Where should I check for the newsletter?
They are *already* doing that through the 'sudden' censorship and re-writes to their guidelines without so much as a courtesy info-mail to the developers/creators. Personally, I think that this entire 'fee rearrange' is to give creators a little something to compensate them for the additional hoops that they suddenly had to jump, twist, and somersault through. Fear not, though, LewdLab! You're stuck with me. :D

In the real world, retailers pay processing fees for handling payments (and yes, then are passed on to consumers via price increases)- not the manufacturers or consumers. Patreon is acting as a retailer, so they should pay the processing fees. Neither the creator (who would be the manufacturer), nor the patron (consumer) should pay these fees. This makes absolutely zero sense from a business perspective. But since they have a veritable monopoly on this business, they can/do whatever they want.

Sounds really fun! Love the idea of gallery scene replays. As for Patreon, I don't mind paying the processing fees instead of the creators. It's a small bump. I think most are just already ticked off from the censorship and then this came along rather suddenly... adding *another* insult to injury.

I do like your idea of a Gallery. I want to get the bonus content for the Bonus Episode also so I will up my pledge to you to get it. Too bad you aren't doing any Christmas outfits for the girls. Would love to see how naughty mom would look in one or even Jenna for that matter.

You should have a separate button on the load screen that says "bonus episodes" and have that there. So it will be permanent content is what I understood? I know usually when games have "holiday specials" that they only have them available during the holiday and then disappear until next year.

Is the holiday episode permanent or temporary? Also will the holiday episode be compatible with the uncensor patch that is floating around? Because it is a pain reading constantly the words landlord, landlady, roommate and neighbor it was giving me a headache and I almost didn't want to play the game anymore after that until I found the uncensor patch.

The new fee system is bull... I can understand it, for those that have majority of 1$ subs. But for the rest of us, the system as it was. Where better than the new... Making wast amount of patrons to "flee"... 🤐 I'm still backing you and intend to do so for a while. 😊
