The letters Greg sent his parents were all unopened. He tried to have a relationship but they were stuck up and wanted to stay out of his life because of their ego. Anyone who doesn’t get Greg’s pov has no idea what toxic strict parents are like. Yes maybe Greg gave Steven way too much freedom but I’d rather Steven grow up with a loving family and a little danger here and there than some asshole grandparents who didn’t even bother getting to know him.
