Highfist

i agree completely, i actually like yawm

Monsoon117

Do you mean literal tears or Etorhma's tears?

Sam4005

Small question: what are tears exactly ??

Monsoon117

I mean come on Stephen, everybody knows what a moser is...it's a, uhm, German jurist and publicist...

Stephen Emrick

I hate auto correct so much. I mean I know I typed monster out properly but for some reason it keeps turning it into moser. Wtf is a moser?

Stephen Emrick

Monster is a relative term afterall.

Stephen Emrick

Fact is the old ones and eldritch are the true villains as they are inherently evil. Schema is both good and bad. Protecting the universe from invasion but sacrificing countless innocence to do so. Yawm main point is that schema could do this without using entire species as disposable. Schema is a cold unfeeling machine and only thinks of efficiency. Yawm and others are strong people that just walk a path that is grey. Wright or wrong is just perspective. Moser is a relative term afterall.

Connor Kelly

Okay I just caught up god dammit monsoon I don't know what to feel I want to route for Daniel but I am 100% kind of on yawm's side. True he is in terrible terrible things but it's not like he sat out with world domination and genocide in mind it seems he's just had a long and painful life and learning the wisdom that he knows now was not without its price. I would say why can't you write an evil villain that I can just hate but those are shallow and no fun the ones you empathize with and the ones that make you question your initial estimate of them are always the best. I congratulate you there's a reason why your patreon community is the way it is and the way we all support you you truly are an exceptional writer. Now we just got to get you that editor and you'll be ready for print.

Monsoon117

It's a bit like that. Amara will explain more later. I'm glad to see readers are curious about that.

Monsoon117

Thank you for the help Xydra.

xydra22

"Come. If we are to here her out, then my study is the natural place for it." You mixed the homophones. Barely noticed it.

Monsoon117

I swear I've made that mistake a 1,000 times.

Tyler Babcock

Damn it Monsoon! Why can't you just write like most others and make your story at least mildly predictable? The twists and turns with no idea where we are going next is just mean. Would you want to go on a road trip like that? I know I won't. Yet here I am, frustratingly waiting for the next chapter.

Alex Kagan

Small spelling error in this and the previous chapter. Tome= book Tomb = where you bury people

Grevis165

I bet its.... over 8000!

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter. Is it just me or should Daniel's next rune be regeneration? If he has endurance and willpower they will cascade through the stats and make him stronger. This chapter shows exactly how regen is perhaps his defining trait. He is like an old suicide black player, spending health for power while using power to steal life from the enemy. Also, HP regen, MP regen and arcane blood, he has so many angles to come at it from.

Aaaand the cat is out of the box. It's very refreshing to see a novel where actions truly have consequences... On another note, I kinda wonder how high Yawn's charisma is. 3k, 5k, 10k perhaps...? :P

Kevin Ramos

Yamns evil, the system is evil, the eldrich are fuckin evil. God damn, he's just a mass murdering harbenger of doom, he wasn't built for this ecopolotical bulshit. I love your story man. Quick Q: dose an eldrich like being have Mana that can gain sentience the more of it there is?

Monsoon117

From the very begining, I intended on no characters ever being truly evil or truly good. I find characters that are gray a bit more interesting and ''spicy' so to speak.

Mikkel

I've been reading along since the day you posted chapter 10 on rrl, and it's been really rewarding seeing the story improve as you do. I really appreciated this chapter for that reason, and also because I think it was really well done.

28th00

Oh man. I can't really hate Yawm if this is his true character. It seemed like he was the evil overlord who planted eldritch inside his minions, but it seems like it was the tears that did that, and he had his own version is the shape of that "Shadow". Well, he's not a good guy, but he's not truly evil either so far.

Monsoon117

Each time I try writing a novel(besides for my first nove), I've begun it with a certain goal of improvement. For Jehovah's Harmony, it was improving my plots. For Biomancer: Songs of Sirens, it was readability. For The New World, it was world-building. I feel as though I've done a pretty decent job and progressed with my world-building skills. Now I want to focus on deepening my characterization. From motives to histories to the voice of each character, I want to make them more distinct, interesting, and relevant. Let me know what you guys thing of the chapter as well because this is my first attempt at giving it a solid go.
