Nice ;-)

Alex R

From everything we have seen so far, hes going to get Fringe Walker which will just increase his AOE damage.

Scott Rutherford

You know, one of my favorite things about this story is how you build Daniel bit by bit over time... he gains new skills, he improves at them, he upgrades them, he fuses them, and as he grows in talent he also changes as a person. It is subtle when it comes to his personality (as it should be, people change gradually in most cases... barring trauma) and it is gradual yet becomes more and more focused and diverse at the same time with his skills. I say focused and diverse because his skills fuse into a theme, yet rather than being more restricted as to what he can do he instead gains greater flexibility with merged skills. Love it!

Scott Rutherford

Agreed, why would she use that phrase unless she picked it up from someone on earth?

Scott Rutherford

My hope is that gaining a class allows him to step outside the pigeon hole cumulative skills puts him in... meaning, rather than "You have Class A: You are a fighter/mage! You can never learn thief or bard skills!" It instead allows him to continuously evolve and grow into whatever he wants, so he isn't stuck as "Class A" for the rest of eternity... unless of course, classes evolve into higher tiers, that'd be cool too.

I believe they are referring to her use of the name "Jesus" as an exclamation even though she is not originally from earth. Her being an alien from another planet means she would have had to adapt to our phrases to use it so instinctively in a sentence. I think you mean adaptability s476.

Monsoon117

I think we both have points here, and we're both partially right. I incorporated a few details about his enhanced perception in the next chapter. I'll try to incorporate a few more elements like that. One other note, I tried to show his enhanced perception when he hunted down the first Skyburner. Those details he noticed were because of perception. Just something to think about there.

FSK

Maybe it wasn't conveyed as well as i thought, since English isn't my main language, but what i said (well, wrote) wasn't about what i thought you should change in the story or mention in the next chapter but about what stood out to me as i was reading the story all in one go (in fact, it was more about the chapter where his perception made the big jump, but seeing as i read it just yesterday it probably feels a bit more relevant than it should). Tbh, i don't care too much about the litrpg aspect of it, i agree that giving it too much importance can only detract from the story. The reason i said I felt like it was being downplayed (imho of course) is because the story is told mainly from the point of view of Daniel, and sensory perceptions feel like they should be a big part of it, or at least a relevant one. The way i see it perception is different from other stats since it influences, as the name says, the way you perceive the world. You wouldn't feel more intelligent or more resistant or even stronger(at least not at those levels, i doubt there's anything daniel would struggle to lift/move in everyday life), but i think it would be a pretty big deal if you were able to see or hear twice, three times as far as before the sudden increase

Monsoon117

Yeh, it does feel like readers forget it's a story sometimes. Not saying I don't appreciate some feedback, but some details aren't worth mentioning. It feels like the last two chapters have been bloated because people want exposition on topics. I want to keep the story 'lean' so to speak, so I'll probably quit listening as much to comments for a bit.

Thomas Bowden

Meh, as a writer, you don't have to blatantly point out every interaction. This is a "system" novel, but there's no need overworking yourself to be like Schema. :p

Monsoon117

Thank you.

Synben28

To an extent. But he has that tree bonus that gives extra experience for killing unknowns. Plus, don't forget that he got around 400 lvls from killing that Skyburner not long ago. While his level is now higher, it is still only around 6000, while Delilath was over 10,000, even higher than that Skyburner. So I think he should still get roughly the same 400 lvls as before.

Maritropa

Weren't the easy XP gains from kills over after Yawm died, and Schema's Quarantine over Earth ended along with the juicy bonus XP with it, tho? 🤔

Monsoon117

Baldowah is an old one that has the same kind of following as a religious figure. Schema also carries this distinction with a lot of people. Etorhma and Eonoth aren't as well known as the others, so their more occult.

Monsoon117

All that being said, I can elaborate on the sensory increases more. It's not been the focus of what's been going on with Giess. Between the characters, worldbuilding, and the political elements, It's been hard to really sink my teeth into the lit-rpg elements of the story.

Monsoon117

I've already mentioned how his senses are enhanced several times. In order to show the higher levels of perception, I tried doing it in other ways. His reading of Thisbey is one. Thisbey is a character that parellels Yawm in many ways. Thisbey is just as manipulative, having all the means to twist someone to their bidding. When Yawm did the same to Daniel, Daniel questioned himself constantly. He struggled not to fall for Yawm's lures. With Thisbey, however, Daniel saw right through him. Thisbey didn't stand a chance at using Daniel, and that's because Daniel noticed cracks in his facade very early on. Daniel didn't with Yawm.

Hey, i just caught up with the latest release after i had put it on hold for a few months to let the chapters build up and damn, i had forgotten how much i loved this series xD. That said, there's something that's being bugging me in the last few chapters, and although i realize it's probably just me nitpicking on details i figured i'd mention it anyways as a form of constructive criticism: it feels like the influence the perception stat has on Daniel is being downplayed by quite a bit. I mean, he went from a few hundred points to a few thousand, which means he increased it by a few times the original amount, and yet it was only mentioned in passing. Think about it, what would happen if you were suddenly able to perceive a few times as many things as before? If the world around you suddenly had 3, 4 times as many details as before? It would probably be a world changing experience and yet Daniel seems basically unfazed by it. Unless of course my understanding of the perception stat is flawed, in which case just ignore my post xD

Beautiful

Corwin Amber

thanks for the chapter

Actually, I'm kinda curious about this. Is she actually using the word Jesus in her speech, or is that a feature of Schema's translator, converting culture specific deity idioms to match the listener?

s476

I should have been asleep hours ago, but this way I read it before going to bed at least! loving her adaptility (is that a word/written correctly?) with her : "Jesus, did you sell your soul to Baldowah?"

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Monsoon117

Yeah, it was also a play on words with the name of their enemies. Skyburners, so he's saying they'll show them how to really burn a sky. He's also referencing someone that really set a sky on fire as well.

Monsoon117

I'll follow through with your first point. Nice catch. For your second, Killing Yawm increased his guild's tier to A+. It's in chapter 143 Free. For the third, I'll have him update the status on the way to they Skyburners. Hope this sounds like a good course of action.

Connor Alexander

Actually a big point right there. We forgot that Daniel should've leveled! Though at the same time his level is still rather high.

Alex R

Sovereign Skill is probably going to let him combine his legacies plus his future legendaries into something sweet.

Alex R

The legacy is stronger now due to the cypher. Probably shouldn't be A tier yet but probably is B+ at best. He also has 2 more legacies that he is sitting on, which might be effecting it. Monsoon also might have missed the or in that statement because Daniel doesn't fulfill 2 of the 3 reqs unless just having 3 legendary slots is what was meant.

Alex R

Torix had said while Daniel was trying for the 1000 Strength perk, that it was difficult to get up over 150 in one stat from an item IIRC. The knife gave 100 in 4 stats and 50 in 3 plus a bunch of other bonuses.

Tyler Babcock

Did you make it a point to make Torix quote Yamn's phrase of setting the horizon on fire?

Maritropa

Torix scoffed, "Knowing how you are, you must have smashed it into shape with your face." That actually somehow sounds reasonable when it comes to Daniel 😂

Synben28

So a few things that I think slipped through. First, since the description for Force of Nature shows the effects of Hunter of Many, I think you also need to add the effects of Star Forger. Second, I'm not sure if Daniel has actually met the requirements for the Sovereign tree. It says he needs to lead an A-tier guild, but wasn't the Harbinger's legion only like C or B tier because that was the tier of his legacy of endurance? You should maybe also clarify the bit about unlocking 3 legendary skills, since at first I thought it was saying he needed to 'create' 3 legendaries. Finally, what I think is the biggest hole here is that there were no levels from Delilath. Daniel killed an unknown over lvl 10,000, he should have gotten at least a couple hundred levels from that. With him going into a major fight, he definitely would have allocated the points, even if it left a bad taste in his mouth from how he got them.

Sanairb

Could we get some descriptions of items that others have made so we can compare them with his stuff? I mean, I know his knife is great, but I want to know HOW great.

Sebas Tian

why must you tempt me so?

Monsoon117

Might reveal his identity though.

28th00

Skyburners being shown a horizon on fire sounds good, but what about showing what a true "Cataclysm" is? C'mon man, he's the harbinger of it! Gotta get some one-liners and name drops in there!

Monsoon117

You're right. Thanks for the catch.

Kevin Ramos

Nice

I thought totella did not know torix’s real name. Didnt torix use malthazar?

Zeal Iskander

Hey question, I recall Torix not knowing about legendary skills. Shouldn't it be widespread knowledge though? Clearing a A tier bounty opens up the Sovereign path, which in turns indicates that there is in fact legendary skills.

Zeal Iskander

> Doubles legendary leveling speed! well shit

Monsoon117

I figured a feel good chapter was good before the epic battle. This chapter flowed really well as I wrote, very few hiccups along the way. I hope you guys enjoy it.
