That skill cliffhanger was evil...

Jeff091

thanks for the new chapter EVIL clifhanger is EVIL!

Pranav

Can I get a crumb of chapter 197 please

Leonard Marchant

"All that to say teaching me was more trouble than*"

Monsoon117

Certainly. I intend on him learning a lot about the galaxy in the next arc I have in the works.

Shawn Liu

Sorry to nitpick. It's not that this detail in and of itself is bothersome, but rather this specific detail is a culmination of something which has annoyed me about litrpg systems for a long time. Namely that increases in non-physical stats don't properly scale the respective non-physical attribute. How does a character with 10 thousand intelligence, literally 1000 times greater intelligence than an average high schooler (and Daniel didn't even have 10 int at the start) act and think? How can an author convey a thousand times intelligence? It's not as simple as brute strength where you can simply say a character X times as strong can lift X times as much. I don't know the answer, but it becomes even more annoying when a character finds it challenging to do something which really isn't that complicated. Sorry to be so pedantic, its really not that big of a deal.

James Fotouhi

I'm thinking you could go two ways. Either remove all the mentions of nuclear weapons, and focus on how Einstein's theories allowed us to understand time dilation (time slows as you near the speed of light). Then Chrona, could be like wow your world had time lords (lol...). Pretty sure she'd be just as amazed by this. Or could you reference how through study of small objects, earth scientists made weapons that had power similar to the stars. Then you can use that Oppenheimer quote, which upon reflecting on the fact that they made such a destructive weapon thought of a hindu text which read "now I am become death, destroyer of world". You could have that quote echo in dan's mind as he reflects on Chrona's reaction or something.

Pretentious Slime

I think another thing worth noting is, learning to wield the elements of the universe doesn’t require that said person learning must first have a better understanding at what they are trying to learn. It’s possible to get there one step at a time. Picking apart a problem and slowing solving it in sections. Sort of how Danial learned to sense his environment and become so accustomed to gravity manipulation. Danial is sort of a pioneer in that he has learned and solved most his problems by trail blazing, with of course lots of trial and error. It wouldn’t be a bad idea however, for Danial to broaden his general knowledge of the world. It could prove to be quite helpful in his study’s/skills.

Pretentious Slime

I believe that What Danial is accomplishing is nothing short of, “Math”. Even if it doesn’t involve any numbers. It matter of fact could be as hard or ever harder to formulate feeling and intuition into practical skill. So, it’s not all that weird that Danial doesn’t know too much about “math.”Because if you think about it, he DOES know math, it just doesn’t translate into what systems we have set up for ourselves to better comprehend things. This is mainly do to him relying almost completely on intuition and feel.

Monsoon117

I ended up rewriting the segment as a difference of priorities. Daniel was more useful learning other stuff, and he'd tackle this stuff later. I'm surprised at how much of a response this garnered though. Daniel can't trivialize mathematical learning that often takes about 3 years to learn fully if you take it seriously. (A year of geometry and trig, a year of pre-cal, and three semesters in college, at least where I live. The mathematical standards are low here though.)

s476

Alright, off to sleep. Thanks for the reply, looking forward to it ;)

Monsoon117

Probably around 7:00-ish central time. So about 3 hours after you made your comment.

Pretentious Slime

Perhaps schema has a few acceptions for those working directly under him.

Shawn Liu

Also I've been on a reread and in chapter 165 torix has Daniel grade his students complex magical examination with and I quote "Complex magical computations covered it, an alien set of tables and texts lining it. It folded open, revealing various formulae and diagrams. Near the floor, I even saw the last page covered with open-ended questions." There is no way trig and Calc are too much for Daniel to understand. In fact in a reasonable universe trig and Calc would be probably bare minimum required for doing those exams.

s476

just asking from germany, will the chapter be already out during the next 2 hours, or with breakfast tomorrow? :)

Monsoon117

Not from this, but yeah, I got a few preliminary ideas for it.

Monsoon117

I checked it out and fixed it. Too many exclamation points, too many, 'hah!'s, and it was too spread out. I added some concision changes, and that fixed it imo.

Monsoon117

There's definitely inventor classes and whatnot. There's all kinds of specialized skills for inventing as well, though it's a lot harder for Schema to enhance those kinds of mental attributes. Schema's good at working within the known. The unknown is the territory of the brave and for A.I that don't exile people for figuring out forbidden magics/tech.

Monsoon117

In what way would you suggest altering the analogy then? I don't want to go into the specifics too much, but I also don't want to be patently wrong either. I'm open to suggestions.

Monsoon117

Daniel could learn it fast, it's that the job itself could be done faster than he could learn the math required to do it. It's less an issue of ability and more of time. I could make that distinction more clear.

Monsoon117

If Daniel weighs 1,000 pounds, he can generate a gravity well that could counterbalance his own weight. So he can lift 1,000 pound objects with a gravity well at zero mana cost. Daniel's mass is much higher than that, so he can use a lot of gravity without using mana or much mana at all.

Monsoon117

Yeah, not exactly my brightest moment there. I'll have to change the setup of how the conversation ends up happening. I don't know what's been up with my lately, but I keep writing in these kinds of obvious plot holes. They're easy to fix, but I hate making simple mistakes like this. I want to be dishing out great content, and this just isn't up to my own standards. Gah, it's frustrating.

Monsoon117

thanks

drag0nreb0rn

damn you cliff...lol will Daniel get his class soon... please say yes.

Pretentious Slime

One thing I’m haveing a little trouble with is. While yes Helios has quite an ego. He also has more then enough power to back it up. I think that while yes it’s usually annoying and perhaps douchey for someone to be egotistical, in these circumstances I thoroughly believe that Helios has earned the right to act the way he does. In a way, I think Helios sort of reminds me of the cold equivalent of Escanor the lion sin of pride. Helios is definitely a potently prideful variant of escanor who would demand your respect rather then believe you already had it. No matter which way you spin it tho, they both hold themselves to immeasurable high regards. The only difference being, Helios puts himself under the emperor.

Pretentious Slime

With this idea, I’ve thought up a few things. Does schema perhaps have specialized classes for great thinkers? Someone who invents new technologies and perhaps uses such devices to wreak havoc. Perhaps they wouldn’t be limited to technologies, rather tactics and strategy. Theorizing the max amount of destruction one might be able to implement under particular circumstances. Maybe they are the ones who created the technology for glassing planets. At least that way it would be far easier explaining the reason for technology being able to compete with certain overwhelming Magic’s.

Pretentious Slime

If, In a different reality, Einstein was still alive and perhaps was part of schema’s system. He would be death incarnate, ni untouchable. His theory’s would come to fruition and his experiments would all have an effective means of being tested. Pair that with an extended life span and you have the most formidable existence with an equally harrowing mind.

James Fotouhi

Small thing, your Einstein analogy for space time is correct. He layed the groundwork for our understanding of how the two are connected and how gravity warps both. This leads into special relativety and quantum mechanics. The origin of Nuclear physics come from the atomic side, where folks like Niels bohr and Curie were defining the composition of elements and radioactivity, which led to the understanding of fission. Oppenheimer being the ultimate architect for the weapon itself. The fields are definitely connected, however the theoretical origins and people who discovered them are not.

Jacob Santos

If he was that smart then explaining concepts that are intuitive would be extremely hard. Then again, Torix would not need to teach him the math, just what he wanted done. The intelligence should also intuit the maths and provide an answer... that would likely not be maths. Hmmm. Given Daniel's aggressive and direct approach the soft approach of maths might be difficult. Really with that much intelligence, he should be able to read the book once and comprehend it at a level to create better or more advanced maths once he has digested the words and concepts. Maybe even able to tell that some maths were wrong.

Shawn Liu

I get that Daniel's understanding of gravity/singularities/time/mana/cipher is all intuitive and not rooted in calculations... However despite this his lack of ability to rapidly understand calculus and trigonometry(especially trig) is pretty absurd. What use is thousands of of intelligence if you can't match an above average high schooler?

Qudy

But I want to see the next chapter

Hayden Pech

thanks for the cliff hanger! and chapter!

M van Dongen

Watch Out ! Dont fall over the cliff !

Argetsword

Dat cliffhanger

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Joshua Little

Espen

Gerardo Avila

I like it, maybe chroma will become a Jedi xD I am one with the force the force is with me woo

Redbeard

Does Chrona already know that he is from a different world? I was under the impression that she still thought he was a water/fish person (forgot their species). But in the conversation he had with her about Einstein he talks about Einstein being from "his" planet and she only reacts by saying "his" world sounds fascinating.

Alexander Dupree

Not a huge fan of the dialog in the beginning. It's maybe too cheesy?

Sanairb

"However much mass I have, I avoid using mana to manipulate the same amount of pulling force." I'm not exactly sure what you are saying here.

Demonuss

So did Daniel admit to Chrona about not being an Espen and I just forgot because the amazing conversation about Einstien should have given that away if nothing else.

Some BS Deity

Your cliffhanger is not appreciated :( thanks for the chapter.

Mason Sudul

Damn cliffs

D. Quinn

Thanks for the reading!

striderfighter

You're training is....

Omega

Thanks for the chap, could you change the EG to e.g in EG, augmentation and origin mana, it threw me off for a bit

Jess Koch

I can’t believe the cliffhanger you just gave us.

Monsoon117

It's tough to beat him. Even If I tried too, I'd beat him about 50% of the time. I know when the chapters coming out too T.T

I think the description turned out well, for the record

Second again

Monsoon117

I'll be posting another long chapter tomorrow. I had a ton of text, so I split the chapter in two. Let me know what you guys think of it or if it was confusing. These were difficult concepts to describe, but you guys are pretty damn smart and on point about this kind thing, so I'm not worried.
