he means like an elemental version of that.

Shannon Smith

Do you mean like the one where any damage he takes has a % of it added to his next attack that he's had for a long time?

Jeff091

hi, thanks for the chapter typo so I didn't let what him get under my skin. -what -->so I didn't let him get under my skin.

Monsoon117

It depends. Having a manipulatable source of energy with next to no drawback is hard to beat. That's pretty much what mana is. Mana pollution is a great example of the drawbacks of using external sources of mana, though some people can use external mana well. For example, Yawm and Helios's energy conversion strat works wonders. Of course it's not something easily done. If you mistake the conversion by even a slight amount, you end up evaporated in nuclear fire. Tough to pull that off.

Pretentious Slime

So since Danial is very good at tanking damage, and his role as a fringe walker kinda makes him doubly tanky. I thought up something that might be interesting. Perhaps it would be useful for him to have a way to absorb certain kinds of energy that are transmitted into his body via physical damage, and then have that energy empower a certain kind of attack. Like say, he fell right smack in the middle of a Grenade going off or something much like it. Well since grenades generally have a lot of physical and heat based energy, that could both empower his physical strength a little bit, but also his heat based strengths as well. Such as his heat magic. Not completely like reflecting, but rather absorption based enpowerment... Like a berserker I guess. Just more technical.

Pretentious Slime

I’m curious. Is there people that can keep up with Helios, Yawm, Harbinger, or any other relatively powerful individual using technology alone? Say a species that is completely inept and unable to use magic, but are very very smart or efficient intilectually? Say from birth they have a profound understanding of things via telepathic communication from the womb? Something like that. Would that even be possible? Or is magic and the supernatural so deeply ingrained into the world that it would be almost impossible for someone to make it very far without it?

Monsoon117

Ah man, that's actually a great point. It's a preemptive mana limiter for anyone that can draw from a planet's mana.

Synben28

thanks for the answers. My main idea for the heat to mana was that it would be useful for depriving his opponents of the mana. I mean we saw how Chrona didn't have a lot of ability in using her own mana, instead primarily relying on the mana absorbed from the lava to fuel her dimensional magic. If Daniel had deprived her of a good portion of it, she would have been more limited with her magic and he could have finished the fight a lot quicker. It would also be useful beyond Giess since I doubt the Gialgathens are the only ones who have figured out how to convert external energy sources into usable mana.

Monsoon117

It's for all his current skills, though it didn't raise his lower leveled skills up any. It did help lower the difficulty spike for mastering certain skills though. Daniel hasn't learned how to convert heat into mana from external sources. It's not very useful for him either considering his vast mana regeneration.

Synben28

Thanks for the chapter, though I have a couple questions. First, did the effects of the 2nd tier of his tree apply retroactively to his existing skills? I can definitely understand not automatically giving him 5 levels for every skill he has since it would be too many free tree points. But did it reduce the difficulty in him leveling his existing skills? Like if his Lightning Eater skill is lvl 35, then is the difficulty of leveling it further now reduced to as if it was lvl 30? My second question is about the gialgathens absorbing the energy from the lava around the arena. Why can't Daniel do the same thing? I remember he was able to absorb lightning and turn it into mana, so why can't he do the same thing with heat?

Monsoon117

It is. Thanks.

Corwin Amber

thanks for the chapter

Pretentious Slime

Great chapter, been a while since I’ve kept it simple and said that.

Xwaderman

This was Helios's way of telling Caprika to take of herself take care of? i think its missing care

s476

Also, thats some menacing stuff

s476

Thanks for the chapter, great way to start off the day!

JewBot9000

dun dun duuuuuuuun

Hana Buechel

“so I didn't let what him get under myskin” this sentence structure is a bit off. I think you meant- so I didn’t let what he said get under my skin.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Tyler Babcock

And the record has been broken!

Monsoon117

To be honest, most that are really invested in the system ask many questions. I might have tried avoiding explanations by presenting all the info upfront. I'll avoid it in the future.

Demonuss

Time to kill a god and save a planet, can't wait to see how all this comes to a explosive end.

Gardor

I think your system identifications are too expositional

Omega

Thanks for the chapter, cant wait to see how this ends

Monsoon117

Also, the stage is set, and now I just have to write out the acts I have set up. It's all about execution from here on out. Here's to hoping that the Giess arc ends in a bang.

Monsoon117

So I ended up fixing a pretty glaring plothole where Daniel didn't hide his identity last chapter. My mistake, but it was pretty easy top fix. Daniel just acted like Einstein was a famous galactic scientist. I also made Daniel give more homage to the other scientist that treaded the path Einstein used to make his discoveries. Anyways, let me know if this chapter was interesting.
