Perhaps I’m being needy but can we peeeeease get a look at his character sheet

IWannaBeATiger

Seems odd to me that Obolis would value Terra about the same as all the bribes from Elysium but also the same level as killing Placia. Seems like he's being underpaid by Elysium if that's the case.

Turora

Nice! Good conversation, definitely enjoyed it.

EvilGodAsura

For sure. It's just so exciting to think about.

Monsoon117

It's possible further down the line. Daniel has a long way before he's where you're mentioning, however.

EvilGodAsura

Now that I've thought of it I can't get the idea of Daniel mastering his dimensions out of my head. Just the idea of having 1 dimension where it is similar to the main one with his own planet he makes for his guild and loved ones to make base away from danger sounds great. His shield dimension to store everything and attacks. And another dimension maybe to imprison beings that he can't kill or other reasons. I mean the benefits of being a living multuverse just seems crazy the more I think of it. With everyone in his dimension his biggest issue is gone as well. And with that all rules that bind him are far far weaker because the only thing enemies can threaten is him which seems more and more unkillable.

Allen Lea

"He opened a portal, stepping back into his study, "That should act as a suitable reimbursement. It's more than the *a[h]corous may give me, " Love the work. :big thumbs up:

MrSmile

Aww lawd he comin. 10/10 ty for the chapter

Code Reed

Rrrrright! Totally forgot about that. Darn. Though there's other applications to bring able to affect the micro. Like being able sence, repell, or attract a person's magnetic field. Or uhhhhhh... *sighs* fuck it, rip the moon from orbit and extract a planets core for raw materials or something.

EvilGodAsura

So much could be possible if he can connect to his disconnected pieces remotely. Once that happens his golems and gear can pretty much consume ambient mana for him which equals more mass which means larger world.

Regnal

He really, REALLY needs to learn warping now that he has the mental capacity for it. He could just chuck the burden of calculations off to another mind too. I'm assuming he would be completely immune to its side effects too from his dimensional resistance and dimensional nature. Plus if he ever screwed up, he probably couldn't even destroy himself with a collapsed portal or something. He could just jump into practicing and plow ahead till he gets it, which probably no one else has the ability to be as reckless and make as quick of gains. As long as he doesn't end up in the middle of nowhere he should be good.

Regnal

I've thought a lot of the same things as you have Asura, kind of like Randidily Ghosthounds own world dimension thing. The problem with that is that I thought he was still limited to how much he can store in his own dimension by having it equal or less to his mass. I could be remembering wrong and maybe that was only a limit on Schema's storage rings. It really does seem like Daniel has the capacity to exponentially progress to that of an old one someday. Perhaps his own paradise dimension will be a possibility. Especially if he can warp around and summon his own golem army, he could truly build an empire. Then have his most important guild members in his personal dimension where he doesn't have to fear for their safety. I also have been considering if his manifold mind skill could be evolved into a true hive mind skill similar to Baldag' Ruhl. He could then create bodies that house his parallel minds that would be better than even his golems. He could take after doctor Doom with all his Doom bots lol.

Regnal

From what I remember Nuclear radiation was outlawed by Schema because it feeds the Eldritch too much. He might not be able to do most of that without being exiled under normal conditions. Even if his sovereign class might stop that he probably doesn't want to be pissing schema off too much for now.

EvilGodAsura

Need is an interesting topic. With full control his weapons would be much safer to give out even for sale with cheaper pieces allowing him to get even more ambient mana. His golems could be summoned from within his dimension if he could link to them and know where they are after he masters warping. Allowing him to have access to all his army at a moments notice. If he creates a world or even life in his dimension they could produce mana and new items for him. Because he is conscious he could even speed up time in his dimension to speed the initial growth of the world's. Also once powerful beings have grown he could summon them from his dimension to fight for him. Or the most simple tactic. He could create massive planets at remarkable speed with his control over time and his mana pool. Once made he could literally chuck worlds out of his dimension at his enemies at boosted speed thanks to time control. Also with a personal dimension inside himself since he is a multiverse after all he could store everyone he cares for inside himself and siphon whatever resource he needs from outside to them. A dimension run fully as he wants tied to his almost invulnerability and immortality. It solves Daniel's biggest worry of his guild being used against him into a strength as wherever he or his golems are he can bring his entire guild in second along with horrific physical might. Lastly if he can control the dimension inside his shield he can straight up bring enemies into it where they would suffer the ultimate suppression of a dimension like he feels in the current one where he can't budge the laws of it because of its size. Inside one of his dimensions once he gets control over law's he would essentially be a God inside it. As for how to get someone inside I picture it has something to either do with the shield or being able to link his armor to his dimension like it is with his body once its detached. Like that he could cover a foe in his armor and consume them into his dimension like he does with items that touch his armor and it sinks inside it. Except with disconnected pieces of himself. Also in emergencys any armor someone he cares about wears could pull them into his dimension for safety just leaving a hunk of his metal in place.

Monsoon117

Fixed the issues and thanks.

Monsoon117

I rewrote chapter 306 to include the concept. If it's confusing how it works and you didn't read that specific re-write, then I'd highly reccommend going through the chapter. It fleshes out how the whole process is experienced, and I don't want to be repetitive when I can avoid it. The cipher re-writes might be necessary once he's made a signifigant advancement in that specific field. Until then, advancing said field is probably a better use of his time.

Monsoon117

There's a chance that's possible. Whether or not Daniel would do something like that without the need to is another question altogether. It's definitely an interesting thought though.

Monsoon117

The council of Daniels needs to be managed after all. And who better than a Daniel!

Joshua Little

He should just make one mind that interfaces and manages mind ramping. Like a governor for his mind to ramp up, wind down or create new minds as needed. Thanks for the chapter.

Titaniumtac

Just realized Tera prob has Genius of Potential tree!

Titaniumtac

Hows Caprika coming along? I know she had similar ideals to what Daniel is advocating.

Faruel

yeah, he only just learned the mental reinforcement technique like 4 chapters ago before kicking his own ass for not thinking about it earlier.

Nopkar

Oooooooo, I would love to see a terror reversal of the Rhul. From the one that almost killed Daniel and instilled that terror in him, now he devours another. Poor thing, unless it's got an old one in its pocket it's probably mush

EvilGodAsura

You know I do wonder if/when Daniel will find some way to connect to pieces of himself he cuts off. The sheer amount of benefits he could get if he could link all his golems to himself and all the gear he creates would be astronomical. His gear could be much safer to give out if he could control it even when someone else wears it. His golems could devour ambient mana for him. Theoretically if he can access his dimension in his shield and control it beyond just chucking things inside he could make an entire world or even more with the sheer output of mana he produces.

Scott Rutherford

So, correct me if I'm wrong.. did it say the splinter mind was using mana to strengthen its intellect/will? If so, that's pretty cool... I just didn't know that would work that way. "One of my disparate minds tapped into this furnace in my hand, and from that eternal fire came unbounded energies. It revved into action, turning bits of generated matter into plumes of mana. That psyche took a small portion of the generated energy, strengthening itself further. Focusing deeper than before, this anima extracted more mana from the furnace by concentrating deeply." Also, is Daniel's current body Cypher sufficiently up to date with his current growth? Does it need a re-write or any additional 'text' to be more efficient?

Monsoon117

Ah, that would've been great to mention here. Thank you for pointing that out, and I can incorporate that at the end of Obolis's conversation. Some kind of acknowledgement and to offer him a trip or something to repay the favor.

Tatsu

Didnt Daniel include a kinda ceasefire between the empire and elysium to keep them from attacking their worlds that dont want to rebell? Never really saw that being mentioned outside of helios saying thank you once.

Alex I

The deal was for help with the war, since Daniel convinced Elysium to back off he technically doesn't have to follow through anymore. The Emperor does since he was the middle man making the promise to pay Daniel for helping the Queens.

Titaniumtac

Telekinesis is limited by strength, then mana is needed. Gravity is affected by his mass, again after that mana is needed. From my understanding cody

Titaniumtac

Consistency is important, well done.

Monsoon117

The Empire hadn't decided the reward yet, though Daniel and Obolis understood that the legion would recieve something for the affair.

Monsoon117

The Adair's were a powerful group beforehand, and the remnants in general were always understood to be a split but elite force. I could have that examined with Kessiah or other remnants in the future.

Conor McGroarty

Not sure if Daniel will capture or kill Plazia but either will require decimating most of the forces that compose its hive mind.

kyle

I believe he made a deal with the queens and it was really just inadvertently helping the empire because they could then hire them.

kyle

Love it! Thanks!

Corwin Amber

'we'll assort the details' assort <- sounds odd (might just be me), but is this the word you meant to use? 'Tera left me' <- re-phrasing needed for this sentence

s476

I am so looking forward to Plazia. I have been anticipating that since one of the earlier mentions as I lived the first Ruhl (?) we encountered. HYPE

Code Reed

Also I think his telekinesis is limited to his weight. It's crazy at this point, but I'm sure he could do something about that is he cared to.

Gardor

There are zero "rags to riches" stories in Obolis's empire? He's never encountered someone who over came adversity and grew stronger for it? Hell, right now he's in a massive interplanetary war with a faction that jerry-rigged their own System out of an insane dragon god's skull, all to fight a galaxy spanning AI. That's some serious under dog representation right there.

Sodiumfreesalt

Maybe I'm missing something or forgot but didn't daniel already promise to do the ahcorus mission after blegara anyways? if so, then why would Obolis accept trading tera for something Daniel was going to do anyway?

Code Reed

Hmm.. Instead of macro, what about the micro? What if he developed his control enough to split atoms or something? Use mana (Quinta something) to make hydrogen (H3?) gravity to condense it, and telekinesis to start a fusion reaction and toss fuckin suns at people. Or create a type of fusion reactor. Not sure how it would stack up compaired to an elemental furnace or the mana batteries he can make.

Monsoon117

Obolis mentions this isn't the first time he's experienced this conversation or had the same thoughts. The main difference is that Daniel's living proof of his strategy working, while everyone else went about it in a more theoretical sense.

Bobby B.

Wow, we've got character growth in spades here! I. Hope daniel soon figures out his telekinesis isn't limited to line of sight. Dude could make a volcano by GRABING THE MANTLE AND PULLING!!! Or maybe THROWING a friggin MOON!!

Rick Baker

I loved the chapter myself. I tend to have a problem with characters arguing the ethics of things too, but that's usually when the dialogue is one big mental circle jerk with the MC is lost in his own thoughts. Or just people passing around opinions with no stakes on the line. I like this cause Daniel was doing what he always does: fighting. Instead of his fists like usual, he was just fighting for his friend and strangers using words this time. A thing that wasn't always a strength for him. I like that he's now gaining those tools. While It was a nice bit of growth for him. While also being consistent with his character...just in a slightly different light.

Gardor

It's not usually the arrogance of the twenty something that makes me dislike these convos, it's usually the emperor humoring the twenty something that sets me off. It's always played like "maybe I have become jaded in my years of political maneuvering, perhaps i should treat people with respect, thank you protagonist. Your mastery of philosophy 101 has truly opened my eyes." And again, I don't think you did a bad job of it, both characters seem internally consistent and there weren't too many giant swings in opinion based on the five minute conversation, I just think the subject matter is inherently a flawed trope. It's like, this conversation was basically daniel mansplaining that the empire's subjects can be incentivized to try harder if they're rewarded. Is this the first time obolis is hearing about something like that?

Monsoon117

Sometimes, acknowledgement is all that's needed for an issue to disperse.

Monsoon117

I intend on Daniel being humbled by how difficult it is to run a guild as it expands. I just wanted Daniel to speak more of his mind here to show where he's at, and that's why I introduced the conversation. Hm, I could also introduce elements of doubt as well.

EvilGodAsura

Very good 👍. All I wanted was Daniel considering that schema might be unable to help him. The anger is still fine and in character. Loving it. ✌

Gardor

I don't think you did a bad job, just wanna get that said straight off. I just never like the obligatory "twenty something protagonist argues ethics with a centuries old Emperor" conversation.

Viroshan gamalanathan

Wow...

Monsoon117

This was a very difficult chapter to write, but it was still a fun challenge. I learned a bit more about how to construct arguments from the Spear chapter. This time, I took more agency with developing different viewpoints and perspectives. Writing it out by 'feel' led to wild variances in outcomes, which meant the story took on a chaotic turn. I ended up re-writing this chapter using the new method mentioned above, and it stabilized how the discussion happened. That felt good to me, because good characters are consistent, even if that means they're consistently inconsistent. Anyways, let me know if you enjoyed the chapter, and I plan on having a status update in the next one.
