Nakkus

Damn! I like this guy! :D

MercerV12

Has there been any update at all about his current "Hiatus"?

Gabe

The only sad part of my day was getting an email from Patreon that WASN'T a new chapter from Monsoon. Oh well. As for all you negative nancies out there, give the guy some time. Or, if you are bitching about spending $5 on him, your broke ass probably shouldn't be on this site.

EvilGodAsura

I'm still waiting on three authors who vanished. 1 of which has been gone for over 2 months. The others over a year. Do what feels right.

EvilGodAsura

Most people just stop reading. I would have felt guilty saying nothing again. That hype and escalation draws alot of people in. Making it not seem forced is difficult but it's why top cultivation novels and stories like warlock of the magus world are top tier. Also 90% is a joke if you've actually been reading.

Bonesaw

this does happen occasionally but then some times its a chapter a week or maybe even two

Idan tal

It happened before and on times like these he usually doesn’t charge

Joshua

If I knew this was going to happen I wouldn't of purchased patreon. Honestly don't think I will in future now

EvilGodAsura

They also have a reputation for vanishing suddenly and never appearing again.

Pretentious Slime

Well given that 90% of the chapters are fight and hype I welcome change in pace. Right now you are just sounding like a really really loud minority.

Pretentious Slime

Give it another month or two before asking. Authors got a reputation for having a life outside of writing.

ShotoGun

Did the author die?

Jeong Ho Lee

Hello I wanted to ask some questions about the system. For one are there no more perks that Daniel can take? A second would be about how physical damage percentage works. So does it just add strength or does it augment it? Like does it add a flat amount of strength for every percentage like 100% adds an athletes worth or does it make someone 100% more stronger? Asking this because you described pdp at 100% to be equal of an athlete when Daniel had over 1000 strength. Sorry if any of this seemed rude.

SquidTheJim

Aleksander the chapters here are definitely interesting ones where stuff actually happens rather than just fluff, and that is fantastic. For many of us it doesn't make a sudden and completely unexplained absence of unknown (possibly indefinite) duration any easier to accept. We've all seen authors vanish enough times to not get overly optimistic in these circumstances. :(

Aleksander Lie

i think its fine, many authors posts all the time, what i like about this novel is that each chapter feels a lot more "dense" and well written. Each sentence carry more weight, and for that i think it's worth waiting.

EvilGodAsura

The almost universal response to a sudden shift to politics is backlash or lack of interest. I hope it works out but I've lost all hope at this point so I just state my worry so I don't feel any guilt for not saying anything if it does happen.

Pretentious Slime

Ehh arcane emperor fell off because the author took too many comments to heart and stopped uploading. There are plenty of stories that have sort of a slow faze in story but then they pick up again. Amazing example is azarinth healer.

Code Reed

You alright man? Normally you let us know if you're going to be this late on chapters.

EvilGodAsura

Precisely why they tend to never be finished or get horribly worse from that point. How it will play out this time I'm not sure but I've become pessimistic.

David

Politics takes a lot more thinking then just throwing world-ending punches at the enemy.

EvilGodAsura

Funny enough Arcane emperor also died off when it turned from action and rpg evolution to politics with a slower more complex pace. As well as Soveriegn of the three Realms when it did the same jump. Precisely why I was worried.

FlawlessMovement

Hey I always think about this story just touching base.

Obunga

it’s been a while since you’ve uploaded. You good?

the void

dont like the story stop reading it or wait for it to get back to him kicking ass

V

Noticed it's been a while since an update. If you're taking a break just cause you need one that's cool take your time. Your story is among the best I've read so I hope you continue to write

Stitchwitch

Hey just felt the need to add a positive comment ! As a reader of a ton of novels, I just want to sincerely tell you how much I enjoy your style of writing. Regardless of the content, I look forward to reading your novel simply because you wrote it! Regardless of where the story goes, I know I’m going to enjoy the adventure.

Monsoon117

I want Daniel to pick his enemies and the change he wants to enact this time instead of that change being forced onto him. It's for agency and whatnot.

Allen Lea

Everyone has their own tastes and that's nothing to be ashamed of. I personally am going to suspend my judgement about the unknown. I haven't seen what's written past this chapter yet, and it could be something I like or not. The other thing is it's a lot easier to tear stuff down then to build them up, and if we weren't suspending disbelief because this is a fantasy a LOT of what he'd be doing right now would be ALL of the boring business, like we see Obolis being shoehorned into. Having highly competent help like Torix helps alleviate that burden so we the audience get to enjoy more of the high fantasy stuff, and it makes sense with Daniels starting position as a 17 year old kid with a rough childhood. So I understand the balance being struck between suspension of disbelief and enjoying high fantasy. The other thing is we know so little of what's going on beyond Schema and with the ancient ones. The story has hinted that Schema is allowed to exist by the ancient ones, and they're the ones really calling the shots. So as we see Daniel step out of the realm of mortals and start wielding god like abilities, you'd expect he starts running into god like foes. That's not even pausing to mention he's just run into a Ruhl who is seriously powered up. Hundreds of furnaces, a mastery of mental magic, and (since he killed the sentinel, and is a Ruhl) it's a safe bet he knows at least some of the forbidden runes and has been able to empower himself to some degree. So Daniel isn't even out of the level of mortals yet. Anyway, that's my two cents on the matter I recognize I have a higher tolerance for stories to take their time than many others, and that's definitely a matter of preference.

EvilGodAsura

And so begins the story of Daniel the diplomat. That's what I became invested in this for. Politics and reasonable discussions. Let's just ally with everyone then! Oh the eldritch have some reason I'm sure for mostly eating people so I'm sure Daniel will join with rhul and work to save them or something so thats 1 less enemy on his plate and he could eventually rule the eldritch once he is scary enough. Let's just ally with elysium at this point and follow Daniel as he eventually beats schema down and takes it over or just gives it to someone else to manage because it's "not his style" and he can just turtle on his worlds while others pay him to stay away. Why bother fighting the old ones? Sure they tried to turn him into a vegetable and do plenty of crazy things to the universe but you would like to read about him having semi reasonable talks and treaties with them over some heaven shaking world shattering battle right? Who wants that? I'm just here for endless alliances and empire building where Daniel just tries to get as many benefits for his guild as possible for as little trouble as he can because he has no clear goal or enemy other than just take care of his guild at this current point. He is far too powerful and has no clear enemy that would inspire him to grow his character at this point so I can't see any reason why he would refuse any offers to just take benefits and not get involved with his godlike powers. It makes sense. I would do the same. That's why stories introduce a clear enemy or goal so that the protagonist is FORCED to change and grow. That is what drives the emotion and tension. If you enjoy politics and Daniel just throwing his weight around with minimal struggle for a huge amount of reward then fine. It's just not what I signed up for honestly. This is the last time I'll give my honest thoughts because clearly it's not welcome.

ShotoGun

I think the story is more interesting if he allies with Ruhl. The story is always at its low point when Daniel is following Schema’s rules.

s476

As long as you keep the contact up its not a big deal. We can all understand the struggles :)

Monsoon117

I'm working on it, but it's another hard chapter. I'm also editing the beggining of the New World, and that's taking up some time and energy too. Sorry abotu the slow response here.

Calleman20

So when is the next chapter up? the cliffhanger was big this time around.

Monsoon117

Hey man, just so you know, your discussion and points aren't invalid. Other people might disagree, but other people will agree with you as well. Don't sweat it and keep voicing your thoughts. I always appreciate them. I just don't always agree.

EvilGodAsura

Shin

Thats a nice idea i am still waiting for him to use that skillbook on primordeal mana he can then construct small minds to develope and ripen within his armor like you suggest

Monsoon117

Thanks and fixed.

Monsoon117

You want a specialized experience, Asura, and that's why you're finding the story more boring. You want a generic power fantasy, and I understand wanting something like that. It's a trope for a reason, as it offers compelling elements. I ask that you understand that I want to take a different direction moving forward. You've enjoyed the New World up till now, and that's because I've written it well. Give me a chance, and you may enjoy the next section more than you think.

Monsoon117

Interestingly enough, I wrote this entire chapter with only one contact in my eye. I dropped the other one, and I couldn't buy more contacts. I ended up putting a blindfold over one eye, effectively wearing an eyepatch the entire time. It made the visual grammar edits difficult, so I'm actually quite pleased this comment section isn't just littered with grammatical errors like I expected.

Monsoon117

I think some of the qualms you have or mixed feelings(Asura) stem from some assumptions. You're assuming very linear, direct lines of thinking for Daniel. I can tell you right now, those directives aren't absolute, and so far, no one has even gotten close to predicting what's going to happen next. Either way, take the shift with a grain of salt and just enjoy the ride. I will be aiming to deliver on it with twists, turns, and big fights abound.

Monsoon117

External threats aren't the only source of motivation. In this case, I'm trying to define an intrinsic reason for why Daniel is fighting, not just some big threat forcing him to fight harder. I want Daniel to drive the story from here on out with his own decisions that will carry huge consequences, ones that he'll struggle with. He'll also be forced to grow in many ways outside of just fighting, and that's going to be exciting. Fighting will remain a part of it, and by having Daniel define his goals more, he'll also aim to achieve more. Like you mentioned, Asura, he'll need to fully utilize all that willpower, intelligence, etc. that Daniel has amassed.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Scott Rutherford

Now I'm imagining Daniel crafting many 'not Daniel' minds (like used in his Golems) working in concert; woven into the fabric of his armor. These nascent minds could observe Daniel, assist him, and eventually be transferred to a golem body. Meanwhile they'd work under the Daniel minds in helping him handle his power. I'd like to imagine he'd have them handle things on a more automatic level at first, sort of how a human brain has a part tasked with breathing and making sure the heart pumps blood. Such mini-minds could handle things like helping Daniel minds with their emotional stability and running the furnaces.

Blake Richardson

Thanks for the chapter

Age Rich

I believe you’ve started down that path. At first the constant fight worked because he was trying to survive, define a safe existence in the system and he needed enough power to be relevant. Now his power has grown to relevance in the Galaxy, defining what he’s for is the next logical step. On the up, what your against is enough, not anymore. I’m hoping he and his team build an empire, then who he is against will self identify.

Monsoon117

I don't want the New World to devolve into a repetitive power fantasy where Daniel just escalates strength, over and over against pure evil. I want my novels to be more, and that doesn't motivate me. There will be plenty of fights, however. I just want them to mean more than they have.

Age Rich

Looking at the discussion and comments, I’d say you hit the mark.

Age Rich

The thing about empire building is that it gives you something to protect without that moral ambiguity. Some group/individual threatening to you and yours, you give your best effort to destroy them. Daniel has so much power now many of his challenges will be of moral and ethical use of that power. Is he going to be a tyrant, conqueror, explorer… the what are you going to be, do, with all that power has been a frequent question lately.

crusty pickle

Daniel has emotion even if it's muted he wants to protect he loves to build and he's aware of his power and doesn't want to end up like others before him gifted with great power but misused it. And the last old one (eonoth) tried to give Daniel something Daniel resisted and refused his gift and Daniel managed to escape the old ones domain while also "stealing" something from him while he was leaving the old one was definitely mad at daniel. Daniel also wiped out all those cities owned by elysium when they were harvesting the gialgethens, basically wiping them off the map and killing everyone, he just needs the right motivation, he's not a mindless killing machine to sentient creatures, he doesn't want to be another yawm, at this point I'm convinced you haven't really read the story on anything but fight scenes and skim over the rest, all of your complaints have already been addressed and talked about if you actually read the story

Corwin Amber

'to twisted Sentinel's' -> 'to the twisted Sentinel's'

Tom

I'm not convinced yet that he won't need to fight Plazia. But if it does turn out that way, Daniel may instead go against Schema. Either way there should be a big fight coming.

Justin B

Every time I see a new chapter I get excited. Thanks!

Kemizle

Loved Plazia-Ruhl. Had a thought now that Daniel can multitask he should read through the library Torix gave him (don’t think he finished it) it should raise the floor on his magical knowledge and a good foundation to build on

Kevin M

Really happy with how the story is pacing and the depth of the story and characters. I think you nailed it with Plazia’s introduction, cryptic but still forthcoming enough to entice you into wanting to hear more. The slow down from the constant fighting has been great too. It’s been great seeing the world and characters build up more, as a reader I feel so much more invested in the story and the characters lives. It’s such a nice contrast to things like cultivation novels that often follow a cyclical plot that only works to deliver more enemies to the MC at just the right level to make them grow. This feels so much more organic.

Knight Axel

You did good, man. Vibe successfully achieved!

Steven Vollmert

I love that this story is so fantastic, but still feals so real. Some enemies turn out to be friends, friends turn out to be enemies and truths turn out to be lies. Thats how the real world functions. Everyone has their own agenda, even the 'evil' ones. And just as easily a hero can tunr out to be the villain, as seen from our big bad golden dragon, that just wanted to stop his world from ending. Also the evil (elysium) cares for its people and the good one, the empire, opresses them. I just love how everything is fluid. It makes it seem so realistic. It also shows the age and vasteness of this universe. There is always someone who knows more, or is stronger than daniel. They had literally hundreds of thousands of years to get to such levels. Well, thanks for the chapter, can't wait for the next one :)

crusty pickle

So the eldritch pacification is just a stop gap and there's no way that's a permanent solution, there are also guaranteed to be ancient eldritch somewhere in the universe that are definitely hostile (aka fringeworlds before schema can make them into a spatial fortress) or even the s-class bounties. There are other hostile artificial intelligences that are similar or could be similar to schema, the old ones that we've seen 1 of them was rather passive because he was weak the other one is now VERY mad at Daniel so there's no telling where that will go. Schema is probably getting more and more wary of Daniel and when he learns this new secret he could become outright hostile and try to eradicate him, we also don't know what schema even is, or his true motives, there's more to power than just using it to destroy, Daniel has a desire to build, but first he needs to secure the safety of his guild and people while helping as many sentients as he can. The constant power struggle sounds good on paper but when there are things at stake and actual plot behind the events going on it makes the events much more interesting in my opinion, all of the fights with lehesion except the last one have ended in Daniel's retreat/defeat and he didn't want to risk losing all of the things he cherishes just for 1 victory, while elysium wanted to save a planet from getting glassed, so they made a Temporary ceasefire, Daniel can gather strength and resources and hit them back hard at a later date if he so chooses

Shin

There where quite a few cases where you forgot the G in the name of Baldag Aside from that a great chap i am excited for plazias great reveal or his possible trap depending on which kind of twist you decide

crusty pickle

It feels like monsoon is setting a precedent for further story driven fights/ moral dilemmas and it seems like he doesn't want it to be one of those stories where the protagonist is constantly finding enemies only slightly more powerful than him everytime he defeats the last BBEG. (Just like DragonBall z) I'm really enjoying the change of pace, and how the plot is expanding. Very nice chapter monsoon 👍

Age Rich

Such a good chapter

Aidan MacFetridge

Thanks for the chapter!

Steven Myers

Nice

EvilGodAsura

Kryn

Woohoo!! Just sat down for lunch, perfect timing. Thank you for the chapter!!

Monsoon117

This was a really difficult chapter. I wanted to nail Plazia's menacing, intelligent vibe. It's a really hard voice to pull off, but I gave it my best shot. I also wanted to forshadow a lot of various elements and make the scenario beleivable. It's a lot to manage, so it took a few edits to get it right. Either way, let me know any suggestions, thoughts, etc. I always read the comments, on patreon anyways. There's too many in other places.
