Kenny Veach's Last Quest: The Hunt for the M Cave | Mojave Mysteries Vol. 1
🕑 Added 2023-11-17 05:20:58 +0000 UTCTo most, the Mojave Desert looks barren. Jagged rock, swirling sand, and scrub brush.
But the Mojave is full of life. It’s been home to native tribes for thousands of years.
And the Mojave is also home to many caves; that hold many secrets.
Some caves are reported to be secret entrances to underground bases. And not all of those bases are occupied by humans.
Other caves are rumored to be portals to different places on earth. Or portals to different dimensions.
There are caves in the desert that cause even the most experienced explorers to run away in fear. But when they gather their courage and return to the caves, they can’t find them. They’re gone.
Year after year, adventures scour the Mojave; trying to solve these mysteries.
Some brave souls return with incredible stories. But others go out into the desert and they’re never seen again.
One of those brave souls - was Kenny Veach.

Whatever happened to Kenny, I'm sad that he's gone. On a side note: I'm really disappointed his toilet paper holder didn't get created. I hate regular tp holders and would have loved to have that one! As someone who has been battling depression since I was 9 years old (now 47), I appreciate your message AJ. I believe the absolute worst part of depression is the loneliness and the feeling of being alone.
Martine Harmon
I understand severe depression just don't know how to climb out of it. Your stories have helped me a bit. Thank you for all you do!
Jalopy Jezebel
Thank you for your honesty and sharing with your own depression. I think most people experience it at times through life and it's important to talk about. I appreciate you!
David Parisi
Very grateful for AJ and for great episodes and content like this one! Thank you for addressing the difficult topic of depression when it came up. Proud to support this work.

AJ you’re monologue at the end is so inspirational. I also suffer from depression. I listen to this everyday because it is so true. When you are going through hell keep going. And there are many of us who experience the same things. I am trying to stay kind as you have no idea what others are going through. So thanks man for the inspiration

I’ve watched this one a couple times. I’ve been in such a bad depression, I haven’t touched my music studio in months, and it’s my actual “job”….(too much to explain and no one cares) So many things hit me at once, I haven’t cared about anything. I used to be a great composer, now I can’t muster up enough energy to even care about it anymore; but I HAVE to because it’s how I live and it’s all I’ve ever been great at. And now Christmas is coming up, and I am completely fcking useless to even be do anything for anyone I care about. Anyway, way too much info, but I felt like at least commenting since AJ mentioned it. AJ and the crew has been the one thing I’ve looked forward to over the last year… thank you.

Congratulations on 3M followers! As an early follower of the channel, I’m so impressed that you are returning to your roots of connecting the “yet to be known”, through the analytical framework of science, combined with the optic of true humanity. Thank you for being brave enough to admit to your own struggles. It is so empowering to hear another successful, physically attractive, human admit that life isn’t what everyone around us believes it to be. This video brought me to tears, as I’m hugging my Hecklefish plushy, while wearing my “Camp Greenfoot” tee. My favorite of all my WFs merch (shout out to Jen!) Please keep being the genuine version of you; while dodging the YouTube matrix. It’s what has always brought you success.

Ya know what aj, I've been battling depression for years but your look at life gives me hope
Adam (Pappy) Koehler
This was one of the best ones because of the message at the end this time of year alot of people need to hear it.
Tiph Tobie
Thank you for sharing your struggles. I think a lot of us can identify with the effort it takes to just get out of bed, let alone survive.
Bosco Lemonzit
I don't even watch south park and know the killed kenny joke, nice touch

Whooooooooooooo Killed KENNY

I loved this episode. I worked and played around Tonopah NV for a couple of years. The desert can be alluring. That mine shaft even looks familiar to me, but there are so many out there. Encountered a coyote at close quarters near one like that. So many cool things to find out there in what looks like wasteland sometimes. And depression has dogged me most of my life too. Peace and strength to the fighters.
Jake Sheehan
Another great episode. Lately I feel like this show has really gone to the next level. Also, the ending was very well done. That’s a tough topic to discuss and you handled it with some real class. Great work!
Melinda Le Beau
Great episode. It’s nice to hear you’re human too. 🫶🤗

Great episode as always. Thanks for sharing your struggles. Please don’t feel ashamed. Like you mentioned in this episode, you are not alone 💙

Great episode, also you... AJ and Heckelfish do truly deserve the support. I have suffered with the affiction of depression all my life and I am 66 and still fighting, thanks for your honesty. Peace.
Jesse Howard
Depression sucks. You’re exactly spot on. It’s almost all of us. If needed find someone anyone. I’ve been alone in that dark but the light and love are just around the corner. Peace.
Dave Dolle
Thank you for sharing.

I woke up this morning to that Song playing in my head. It always makes me Happy!

Great Episode! So much cool footage to back up the story, and of course, the writing is exemplary as per usual. I love the lead up to a surprise, then a break, then the next piece of the puzzle story. Although I missed the actual premiere, which I so love, including the Sponsor ads. Missed it. And oh yea... what about the Tall Whites? Looking forward to that one!
John Zacharakis
Kudos for another great episode and especially for your beautiful and very powerful ending. You and your entire team are a treasure to the ever more people that your videos reach. Keep it coming!
Sonia Flores
You guys manage to keep the amazing content flowing weekly. Thanks for deciding to share your struggle with us. Sharing it helps even those of us who don’t have it become aware of what it is and how we can help. Your channel is nothing but goodness, which we need more of in this world. Hecklefish is hilarious, I love to hear his POV. Who does Hecklefish’s voice anyway? Please do the Tall Whites! I hope you all have a very happy TG and get some much needed rest, you deserve it! Love you all!
No Way Jose
Thanks for sharing. Always helpful to hear other people you admire struggle with similar things as you.

Great video and thank you for the end segment on depression. It's a really important topic in modern society that doesn't get enough mention. I also wanted to mention the EM Drive as a possible topic. If you haven't heard of it, it's a super fascinating piece of technology that shouldn't work. But they just launched 2 prototypes into orbit on a Space X rocket as of ~72 hours ago. If that experiment works it's going to break physics as we understand it. If it works *as advertised* it will change the way our society interacts with space in general. Thanks again for all you do AJ. Go get some sleep!

Do the Blondes!
Pete Mitchell
Great job, as always guys! I ran across his video by the mine shaft a few months ago, but never delved any further into the story, so it's great to have folks I trust do the digging and present the info in an honest and humble manner. FYI: it is incredibly easy disappear if you want to. I know this from experience, I just decided to reappear and get some help. Keep up the great work, it is always a pleasure to see the email informing me of a new vid!
Jeff Okeson
AJ, thanks for sharing your battle. I also struggle, as do so many others. Being open, honest and authentic like this allows others to be the same, and maybe that's a part of how we heal. Thanks again.

Fantastic ending!! Bravo 👏🏻
Sendrius Telt
I’m a major depressive myself. I’ve been on a solid cocktail of meds for several years now but my twenties were rough! For anyone going through it, I feel for you. Try, try, try to do the impossible thing.
The Fat Bastard
Thanks, I hope that it help!
Mike McLoud
I appreciate you being open in this episode. There are times I deal with depression as well, and even on the rough days such as today, fun things like your creative content and positivity are what keep me going. You’re an inspiration and a force of good in the world. Thank you!
Doc Hollidxy
Great video as usual. Thank you for sharing your struggles with depression. As a man who deals with anxiety and depression daily I know how hard it is to talk about it. 💚♥️🧡
Bosco Lemonzit
I’m of the opinion the military for all service personnel that are deployed in war zones should require therapy for 5 years upon return. Might cut down on suicides.
Bosco Lemonzit
Have you considered hiring a project manager and not having a podcast on Wednesday and show on Thursday, you are letting pods interfere with the show which is the main $$$. Just a suggestion from a PM and 6sig black belt
Marilyn nunez
So good. You never disappoint!!!
dudenamedclem
last part brought me to tears, for sure it hits home to me. Great episode. I first discovered the story of Kenny while watching Aquachigger when he was searching and glad you showed him at the end and his search. Absolute tragedy and hope day he’ll be found, one way or another.
Michael Cuevas
I love not having commercial interruptions during the show. This was so worth it! Tall Whites episode please.
Jeff Lamb
AJ well done.
MikeD
Just like old times. Watching a Why Files episode in the morning. I remember long ago (nine months?!) when we had morning episodes. Great way to start the day over my coffee. This is another story I've heard about, but never quite followed. A great overview. Kenny, are you out there? I don't think you are.
NorthwoodsJen
Gaahhhhh!!….. when WF makes you cry in the morning…. Super great episode ♥️
MikeD
Glad you're doing well, and glad AJ mentioned his past battles. It's very helpful for those who are going through it to know they are not alone.
Jeremy Shorter
I’ve been through depression. Went through it for years before making the decision to get out one way or another. It took many more years to get out of it, but in the past 3-4 years, I’ve had almost no trace of it. I feel for people still going through it. My prayers are with everyone here who suffers depression, including you, AJ. ❤️
pheobekate
I knooooooow!!!! my dogs look at me like I have lost it when I'm dancing around, singing that catchy little song!!! "...I can't believe, I'm dancing with a fish!" (dancing around, trying to do the AJ dance and failing, dogs looking back in confused horror)
pheobekate
THE PERFECT way to start my day!! Thanks everyone! I love this desert and region, it's the area my heart calls home. I really like this episode, I hope Kenny finally makes it home. good job!
Patrick Reilly
Best coverage of this story I’ve heard yet…always appreciate the Why Files team for their great work

Congratulations on your sobriety!

Just my hot take but I think the guy is living that homeless lifestyle underground in the storm drains of Las Vegas. A lot of people down there and no one really even knows they’re down there.
Peter Anniko
Just noticed the theme lyrics on the outro - now I can sing along! 🤣

Thank you AJ. Thank you TWF team. Really enjoyed it. Got up early to catch it this am. Well worth it. TWF- you guys need to take a breather so you don’t burn out. This concept is rockin. You have a loyal following because you guys are valued in today’s buffet of crap to choose from. You are exceptional and a highlight of my week. I haven’t been mindful of any day of the week for a show in years lol.
Stephen Reponen
Excellent episode! Fascinating as always but still has a poignant message. So I finally decided to join patreon for the first time!

Your channel has always been my absolute favorite. Perfect mix between comedy and seriousness. Always respectful to the subjects of your videos. Thank you for all you do to keep us entertained.
William Bush
Add anxiety and panic attacks to that depression, and it makes for a pretty miserable existence.. been battling with all 3 since my early teens, and I'm now 62.. alcoholism and drug abuse took over my life for more years than anyone should have to endure... but I'm coming up on 14 years clean and sober, and dealing with life head on.. some days are good, some days aren't, but I won't give up. Yes, there is help, and knowing you're not alone in all this, and there are people that care, makes it that much easier to deal with. Thanks A.J., love the channel and the content is the best on any platform. Love to you all!
karen Hillyer
This episode made me laugh.. And cry. HF and the brown noise.. 😆.. Kenny and his depression.. 😔.. I think so many of us know about that.. I believe he's still around. I think he found that cave.. And after negotiations. Was offered a job by area 51.. I think he's living his best life.. And working along side souls from elsewhere in our great big universe.. Much love Kenny..♥️ And much love AJ and HF too ♥️♥️
Army Nation
Warren, you hit it on the spot. I know AJ and family really works hard for great topics and content. He really does remind me of Art Bell (RIP) stories... And the WF After Files are the best. Much love to you!!!

AJ.....you keep out doing yourself with each episode....it's truly a blessing to be a witness to your amazing creative talents....I'm proud to say I've been a witness to the incredible growth and success of "The Why Files"....your channel can only grow and grow and grow with the dedication you have to perfection AJ....thank you from my heart for your sharing of the struggles you've endured.....and one request AJ.....if it's just too much to keep up with being the captain of the ship, please, relax, take a deep breath, and go to bed! As a member of the Why Files family it's cool with me if there just isn't an episode for a week (or 2 or 3 or.....) We're in it for the long haul and we're all rooting for you and your family and looking forward to the 10 million subs party! My hat's off to you AJ! Another outstanding episode!

As someone that struggles with depression and anxiety, this episode made me tear up. The “you’re not alone” at the end. 🥹🙏🏼

Being part of this crowd makes feel less alone. Tonight particularly. Thank you, AJ. Love you all.

This one made me cry , Aj. You are a great person and communicator. If people want help it’s available. On a further note look up “Unacknowledged” a Dr. Steven Greer documentary about unacknowledged underground special access projects spanning decades.🧡🧡🧡✨to all 💫

A Hecklefart! 💨💨💨❤️🐾 Thank you for sharing your health struggles. It feels so paralysing and so so lonely. Every share makes it that little bit less lonely. I am incredibly grateful to you for sharing. Another fascinating episode; thank you WF family. Sending a giant virtual hug from the UK. Today is going to be a good day ❤️🐾

Thank you so much for sharing your personal story as well. I appreciated it very much 💙

Depression is nothing to be ashamed of; it's like being ashamed of asthma or diabetes. I've been living with depression for over 20 years now and have seriously attempted suicide in the past. Medications and therapy have saved my life. We have to talk about depression to normalize the discussion. Doing an episode on (your) depression might be cathartic for you. All of us are trying to live in the 21st century with a 2 million-year-old brain design. That's why normalizing the discussion is so important. With all that being said, I'm sure you helped someone with your disclosure. You would (or not) be surprised at what people who are desperate will latch onto for motivation. Sleep well my friend.
Brenda H
Fascinating story of a brave man who loved to explore. Appreciate your comments on depression, something that overtakes us at times and tough to deal with.

I forgot about this guy. Great story!

AJ, thank you for sharing. I’m a mental health nurse and so many more people suffer than admit it. They feel embarrassed, alone, isolated, ashamed. I’ve also struggled and that’s how I ended up in the profession. Life is hard sometimes, and I hope with time, we get better at being accepting and help each other. 💕👽

Get some sleep AJ!!!
