Amen to the last sentence! I went from living alone for 30+ Years, to suddenly having two room mates. 😳😮‍💨🥺 It's been Quite the adjustment. Lewey Bodies dementia is Brutal... Not just on the family, but on the person going through it. Robin Williams was a Great example of those difficulties. Usually with Alzheimer's, they forget who their closest family/grown children, etc. but, I've never seen a case where they're freaked out, (because they Know they're slipping). The folks with Lewey Bodies dementia Do know. Also, the same is true with dementia caused by mini strokes (T.I.A's). I can Usually leave them alone for up to 10 minutes or so (have to walk my doggos). But cute little miracles keep happening... And it's nice to see. This morning a little newborn squirrel fell about 20+ feet to the ground. My dogs who LOVE 😍 anything squeaky were a little stand offish and kept looking at me... like "It's a critter Momma, fix it!" I warmed it up and waited with baited breath, but momma squirrel never came back. I told my Dad about it. He peaked inside the box and was Amazed! Cool short little break. A nice diversion for a change. Being a Career is something I just knew I would be doing for. my parents by age 10. My Mom worked as a Nurse Practitioner but at 83 she's long since given up her license,. I'm not looking forward to being an adult orphan. But I will be So Very happy for them. Just Super Sad for myself. My Mom is my BFF. She's Always been my go to for life's challenges. WOW. We joke in my family that Drs here aren't performing medicine, they're still practicing like a Jr doctor. 😂 Here's to finding the right medical care.

We got home aid services through the VA. Then they cut us from part time help to 4 hours a week. (love that about the VA. 🙄 Not). I'm so glad you messaged me and I read your entire post. My Dad's pet name is Soda Pop, my Mom's pet name is Mommaluv. 🥲 I have 4 (ER... Had) siblings. Lost the two oldest, both of them at 38, 2 years apart. My own health is a wreck and getting worse. Turns out, when you're under Constant Stress the adrenal glands (on top of the kidneys) that produce Cortisol get drained, and a person can go into a crisis state and die... Literally from Stress. I have Almost none left. So I need to get a Therapist and get some counseling. I'm a member of a Very Small segment of the population (3%) taking care of Both parents. I'm also taking care of my Mom's retired service dog (he's only "retired" because she doesn't remember to feed or walk it, etc.) my service dog who alerts for my seizures from an old head injury. It's True that it's the "long good bye". I feel isolated, and like my life is no longer my own. We didn't have Thanksgiving or Christmas last year and the Why Files got me through the holidays. Birthdays are just another day. I'm only getting about 3-4 hours sleep each night as well. When we had an aide, I was able to get 5-6 hours of sleep 3 times a week. Then I went back to 3-4 hours (if I'm lucky) when the VA cuts us back to only 4 hours. And No One can work for 4 hours. But the people at the VA don't give 2 figs. I was also doing my Dad's disability claim that started in 1993. They gave him 10%. But don't consider it permanent, even though he stepped up and enlisted without so much as a hang nail. Got Polio and was deemed (by the VA's Own Records) disabled. But it's in VA code on his medical records. Any way... I Have to get on line and just "Talk" to people who don't understand. I had an allergic reaction to a medication in the hospital and flat lined. Was Clinically Dead for 22minutes while they worked on me. I Chose to not stay and to come back and go through this. I know what I was thinking. But, I had No Idea it would be This Hard, lonely, isolating, and home bound. Then again... 🤔 I Still would have done this. But until I can get a counselor, I'm just going to keep plugging along. I have SEEN the Toll that doing the Why Files is having on AJ. The Quality of the episodes was Still Amazing. But I could just Look at him and SEE it in his expression. It's the Same Kind of look I see in the mirror. I wish I could give More than $15 bucks. Our budget is just too tight. But I'm hoping he knows how much it's meant to me, at least. Thank You again for your post. 🥲

I went through this with The Mumsy. Multi mini stroke induced dementia... She was a brilliant artist and inventer, her works are in government collections, corporate collections and big private collections around the world. I too vowed to never abandon my Mumsy. I had to fight the 'system' (really a lack of care and medical indifference) till I got her home, amongst her artwork. As the terrible decline continued, Mumsy didn't know who I was, and thought she was in an institution. She had no idea who did the artwork hanging from the walls. It started in 2012 and lasted till 2021. The last year or so it became difficult, but, it was just us, with nursing 3x a day, thank God. But, even with that help, it was difficult. The odd family member would drop by for lunch, (which I made and served and cleaned up), often to give me unsolicited advice/criticism so that was fun... Then, the last months turned into a bit of a nightmare. But, you get used to it. Staying up till dawn to constantly console her that the people were not there, just ignore it, till dawn. Then I'd get about 2 to 3 hours sleep till the nurse came. Then up again to help change her and clean and feed her by hand. So, the COVID thing we didn't notice, except me having to tell the nursing company that if they did not turn up in full protection gear, I'd expose the company and that they were open to legal redress. Anyway, I too had to wear the protection, till the nurse left after a 90 min visit. Anyhoo, I'm still here, among all her extraordinary art...just me and The Mumsy... By the way, I would not have had it any other way. I kept my promise. Mumsy passed at home, at 99 years, 9 months and 9 days. And I, 'the baby' of 5 children, was born on the 9th. It used to be my favourite number...😞 Sorry for rambling on, it'll be three years on october 27th, since we lost The Mumsy, and I don't get visitors, so... it's like opening a faucet, it just pours out once I start. However, it felt a tad therapuetic...😊

Yeah I’ve asked on 3 different occasions politely not in any negative way. I also thought the last episode was his best one as it should be they have more editors now which also means there shouldn’t be such crickets. It’s like when The Xfiles got hot they didn’t keep it to a show a month they did a show every week for 20 something seasons plus two movies. Now I’m not comparing because xfiles was a huge budget show with big name actors so it’s a different ballgame but TWF should absolutely be turning up the heat not letting the stew simmer 😂 just my stupid opinion I mean no harm. Drs in America are so lazy, early intervention is so important with any form of dementia. You're doing the right thing with your dad in being accepting of his reality and trying to distract and calm him. I worked with dementing people for years, watched Alzheimer's kill my nan and watching my mum suffer with Lewy bodies so if you ever want a friendly ear to listen to you let me know, being a carer can be very lonely. ♥️

My Mom is having early symptoms but Drs want it to get worse 😳🫤 before running further tests. My Dad's was caused by mini strokes that were caused by Type 2 from damage to his liver spleen and brain during Korea. He fixed the Jets that were spraying all manner of nastiness/chemicals. LOTS of head and neck cancers on him too. But, he's only 10% "disabled" and not "service connected". So, we're still fighting the VA. When he's hallucinating at 3am Abt Aliens and bugs, I have to hell him that maintenance will get rid of the Aliens and bugs in the morning and distract him. TWF has Saved My Sanity. It allows me to be in the "real world" and staves off Extreme depression. I listen to the episodes, past and present to just get through my day. So my Patreon contribution is my way of saying Thanks. I've Promised my parents that I'd NEVER put them in a facility for the past 40 years. So, that's where I'm at. I'll have to get a sitter, then go to a room in the local library. But I'm hoping it'll work out. 😊👍

IIRC, the Count of Saint Germain was the only one that was ever planned as a two-part episode. All the recent ones labeled "part one" simply indicate that there is so much more to the story that expect it to be continued sometime in future episodes.

Hopefully you're able to line up that sitter, as caretakers require their own mental breaks. Sorry to hear both have dementia. Is it more standard age-related, or Alzheimers? Neither is easy, but the latter brings additional concerns. I recommend testing your Discord account prior if you haven't set it up already.

It'll be my first time, assuming I can get a sitter for my parents who have dementia. 🤔 I've wanted to do this for... Forever. As a caregiver, tho, it's a lot like chasing cats! Lol! Otherwise, Wild Horses wouldn't keep me away. And I LOVE horses... well... Animals. I'm excited!
