It was Nellis Air Force Base in the middle of the night. The mess hall was empty. All the men were asleep in the barracks. The only people awake were him and a couple of guards at the front gate.
The only reason he was up was to grab a little extra chow. One of the perks of being a cook: you get the keys to the kitchen.
Then he heard rustling. He turned, and something flashed in the corner of his eye—something small and white, and it moved fast.
A door quietly squealed opened. Then he heard steps running into the desert. He caught glimpses of something white darting through the brush.
Too big to be a rat, he thought. Maybe a coyote? He wasn't sure. Whatever it was, he didn't want it rooting around his kitchen.
He picked up a rock and threw it toward the noise. He thought he heard a whimper.
As he reached his arm back for another throw, he felt a hot pain shoot through his body. He dropped the rock. He was paralyzed by pain and fear.
Then he heard a woman's voice from inside his own mind. She said, "Stop or die."
The pain dissipated. As soon as he could move, he bolted back inside the kitchen. He locked the door behind him, terrified.
He had no idea where the voice came from. But he knew one thing for sure: it wasn't human.

I've seen no evidence of the Tall Whites that "rings true". I have seen that their legend has developed since these books were written. That drops it squarely in the category of "urban legend". On that basis alone, I have to pencil it in as fake. I wouldn't be overly shocked to find they factually exist, though. It's possible they exist entirely outside of our hearsay and urban legend. I do believe that the Greys may be drones of a superior alien race. That and the ocean floor base legends do seem to ring true, in fact recent reports seem to bear them out. The tic tacs, of course, are real. Although, they've only been a thing for about 10-20 years. I don't know what sort of government cabal is trying to obfuscate the timeline by constantly changing dates and facts, but it's getting annoying. Microchips weren't a thing until the 70's, either. As I recall, Radio Shack was born on the heels of the transistor radio, and that was a thing way before the silicon chip. Check the history of Silicon Valley, nearly the entire history of the microchip was there. A few university students in the US did this or that, here or there, but at the same time, research was being done in Silicon Valley, and that's where everybody ended up, and that's when and where the science first breathed life. Well, most everybody. The professor responsible for the Commodore Amigo stubbornly forged his own path for decades. I spoke to him a couple of times, and told him which direction I believed his research would find fruit in. He stubbornly adhered to his own ideas, though, and I don't think anything else ever came from his research, since the Amiga chipset.

The Why Files really is top tier! Usually shows have a peak and they start declining after time, but this one just seems to keep getting better and better! Great video, but if I may add an opinion? I've always loved how your videos are like 60% storytelling and then 40% debunking what you can. But lately I've noticed it's like 60-30-10, with the new 10 being "the shadow government" and "a global conspiracy". I'm not even saying there isn't one, it's just that it feels like you are talking about it without sources. It's getting harder to recommend later videos to other people, as the ending keeps giving off this crazy conspiracy theorist vibe, staining the legitimacy of the rest. So I dunno, maybe let's call it a video request – make one on the shadow government?

The video clip of the ufo released by the pentagon used in this episode is not the “tic-tac” ufo, nor does it look like a tic-tac. It’s a different shape, closer to the classic saucer shape. The video clip used is from the “Gimbal” video. The tic-tac ufo appears in the “FLIR”video.
