I just used 'should' without they in front because there was already 'they' at the start. But yeah, I can see that it doesn't work because they're different theys. Sometimes I have Elian say or think or narrate in clipped sentences without the pronoun. Just starting with should, could, etc. Also, I really have a problem with using 'had'. And I often use 'and' to lead a sentence. Bad habit haha. Thank you for the line suggestion on the cookhouses. No, you're not condescending. You're very helpful, and I'm thankful for it. I'm far from the best of writers and appreciate all the help I can get. :D

Thanks for the chapter. Should need three times the number with -> They should need three times the number with They were plenty, but weren’t -> The beasts were plenty, but weren’t (You used They a lot in this paragraph, and to describe two seperate "theys") he realized something. They discussed the force -> he realized something. They had discussed the force (You need to keep the tense of the speech between these two sentences, you might even replace that period with a semi-colon like so): he realized something; they had discussed the force Or do something like this: he realized something while they discussed the force (Just food for thought) “If shadow beasts stayed longer -> "If the shadow beasts had stayed longer “Looking for a bright -> “I'm Looking for a bright “There doesn’t seem to be any more attacks -> “There doesn’t seem to have been any more attacks You’ll also say that you regret -> You’ve already said that you'll regret May you aid us in its defense.” -> May your presence aid us in its defense.” Inside the town -> Inside, the town makeshift shops, and even -> makeshift shops and even and even tents. Everyone who -> and even tents; everyone who before the shadow beast attacked -> before the shadow beast attacks Cookhouses and bakeries wafted inviting scenes, mixing in with the not-so pleasant scents of so many people living in a small space. -> A sickly sweet miasma permeated the air as cookhouses and bakeries wafted inviting scents, mixed with the unpleasant stench that came as a result of so many people occupying a space too small to properly house them. The crowd parted as Maveron and his men traversed the main road. More cheering for their arrival. -> The crowd parted as Maveron and his men traversed the main road, and more cheers greeted their arrival. And the town did appear -> The town did appear fulfilling their duties that were -> fulfilling their contracted duties. meant they weren’t present -> meant they hadn't been present (Weren't is present, hadn't been is past) “You didn’t think much of that when -> “You didn’t think much of inadequacy when I’m considered a mercenary, too, since you’ll pay me. -> I’m considered a mercenary, too, since you’re paying me. You know the right words -> You always seem to know the right things He should see that the -> He should be able to see that the hired. -> hired." sales-talking -> sales-talk And he predicted -> And he'd predicted “Most impressive -> You're most impressive women to entertain you before -> women to entertain you until I don't want to seem like I'm being condescending or whatever so if you don't want this much input I can stick to basic corrections etc. Also a lot of the dialogue fixes are not necessarily needed as people often talk in improper English.

Undead Writer

Thanks for the chapter! A bit of a fudge on one of those sentences. Maybe you missed a few words or maybe it’s my screen. Lol.
