Excellent analysis! When you’ve gone through the whole series, you should definitely watch the breakdown video, spoiler edition, on “Restless” by Passion Of The Nerd. One insight I was hoping you would mention has to do with Xander. In his rather cringey interaction with Joyce in his dream, there’s a moment when he says he’s a Conquistador, but then Joyce asks if he’s after comfort rather than conquest, and Xander admits that he’s a “Comfortador.” I think this is supposed to suggest that one of the reasons for Xander’s periodic inappropriate, immature displays of lusting for women is that he confuses sexual love with emotional comfort. He has always lacked comfort because of his dysfunctional family, and he partially responds to that with at times a little more fixation on women and sex.
