It's possible to be macho without being a caveman; who the hell equates those two besides feminists?

Steph Walden

To me, that final line speaks volumes to Joe’s continuing evolution. Looking forward to the next chapter, Thomas.

From my point of view, Joe is evolving a lot but it's not happening in one day. Also, his core character won't change. If Summer at the Farm was about Blake's evolution (hence, why it was told through his POV), this second book which has barely started by the way, is more about Joe's own evolution. Let's give him some time.

Just a couple of thoughts swimming around in my head: Just because Joe has a caveman mentality does not mean it has to stay that way, he is softening up little by little and we have Blake's ass to thank for that. . I mean dude is talking about his feelings! I find it funny how Joe is saying how boring the frat guys were when not too long ago his idea of a fun was a monthly card game, sitting in his recliner while being naked, and a weekly visit to a glory hole. It would make sense for them to stay in the city instead of moving back to the farm. Joe doesn't have to be there for it to continue in operation and he is only 2 hours away if something happens that requires his attention. He has said on more than one occasion anything for Blake. The "I'm the best in the room" attitude is becoming a bit much for any story. This frat party was the first time Blake had seen his friends in months and Joe had to make it all about himself along with his sus comments and comments, I think whether they tell Olivia or not, it will forever change their relationship, even if Joe & Blake "break up" and she finds out later it will still be devastating. Someone suggested that Blake would have to deal with Olivia bringing home a new boyfriend. How would that work, oh this is my father Joe and his boyfriend Blake, my ex-fiancé? You should be able to trust your parents no matter what. Think about it guys, imagine finding out your closest friend has been fucking your mom for months and they continue to do so behind hind you back, right under your nose and under the same roof you have offered her. After getting out of jail for almost killing him, you start to question everything: how could she do this to you, how could he, has she been with any of your other friends, do any of your other friends know about it and if so, why hasn't anyone spoken, can I ever trust her again, will I ever be able to trust anyone ever again? However, Thomas is brilliant and if anyone could make this a happy ending (pun intended) for all involved, it would be him. Whew Finally, does anyone else find it oddly strange that neither Bob nor Dave has reached out to Joe after the fire? Sure, there was the whole fight thing but if we've been friends and something like this happened, especially when you guys could have been killed, I'm setting that aside for now and checking in with you, but that's just me.

Oh yeah, thanks for that

Olivier

Just heard the new Orville Peck song, perfect soundtrack for your story !!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BirJMnMcfBs

Look, Joe has lived on his own for at least 3 years (Liv’s in her 4th year) and without a wife for many years. There really aren’t any woman around and he was a “macho” guy to begin with. Of course he’s a cave man. His point of view is how HE can relate to the city, plus, the biggest reason is not leaving Blakey. The world keeps turning and at some point either Blake has to break up, Liv could possibly have an affair with someone. Joe leaves. Or they tell Liv about their relationship. The smartest thing is for him to break up with Liv and say he’s going to work the farm with her father. If she moves to the big city Blake has to let her go. It doesn’t get all sloppy. And when comes home to visit (with her boyfriend), Blake will have to deal with it. Plus, if Liv does suspect it’s easier to say “we’re around each other all day and it just happened”. Joe has to leave at some point to rebuild his life. I can’t see him living in the city.

I liked this chapter. It has a little bit of everything. I love when I can really know what's happening with the characters, I mean their feelings, the way they see what they have. I get more involved as if I were one of them. Eric sounds like a really hot guy. I thought something was going to happen between Joe and him. That body and that tiny boxer could have been an invitation. Maybe get Blake jealous? Haha in my mind joe and Eric fucked.

Thanks a lot for catching this. And LOL that I automatically wrote "thick", what was I thinking about? ahah

Chole

I think there's typo in this line "Oh sorry, since a blowjob didn't disturb you, I didn't thick a little kiss would." It should be "think" instead of thick, right?

Jaqc

So much potential

Bobby

Honestly, the story of these two isn't nearly as hot from Joe's perspective in my opinion. Maybe it's because of his way of thinking, but Joe's perspective doesn't really provide any tension or excitement. It's all "I'm horny, so I'll hump something". I just feel like the few chapters we've had so far would have been much better from Blake's perspective.

Joe is evolving A LOT. The sole fact that he may consider having feelings for Blake is a huge step for him. He really had not shown any consideration or thought for Aiden for example. That being said, his core identity is to be this "caveman" type of guy, who does not care (or does not want to care) about much and considers that a "real man" should not show his emotions. (Which is of course ridiculous, but that's just the way he is.)

Ry

Time for Joe to play at the big campus party OR Blake and Joe find a glory hole at the party ;)

Christopher Brown

I can't stand the way Joe refuses to evolve beyond caveman or acknowledge his actions are shitty. For a "real man", he sure lacks redeeming qualities (the body & dick thing got old after several chapters).
