I have more than a sneaking suspicion that Alat is the one who put Lea up to it. She seems to have known, and has always, literally always, pushed Tala in the direction of, if not trying to actually reconcile, then at least fully bring to a final resolution her lifelong issues with Alan. Alat likely also knew exactly how long Alan had left because she was probably keeping tabs. I highly suspect that she was hoping to find a way to essentially force Tala into this situation because it's probably necessary for her Reforging to have her finish fully processing whatever lingering feelings she might be harboring toward the man. And clearly, Tala IS still harboring them, if she's genuinely stubborn enough to actively hope he dies quickly so she could avoid being asked by Lea to go see him.

Lea's request is kind of weird. "I want to meet my grandfather before he dies.” - that's valid and she has a right to decide for herself. But right before that she says: “You won’t just ‘hope he dies peacefully.’ You’ll see him again.” - that is a completely different request, forcing Tala to meet her father. It's not Lea's place or right to force such a thing if Tala clearly doesn't want to. And white it might be realistic for Lea to butt in the situation, framing it as gift leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Gifts shouldn't push boundaries of what the giver is comfortable with, which this request does. It's even worse because Lea clearly and deliberately tried to trap Tala in this "gift", which Tala intended as a show of love for her daughter. Even if Lea was justified - I think she isn't, but I guess it may be arguable - it's a scummy thing to do, especially to your family. Tala may need to talk to her father because of the plot/story, but I hope Lea gets a clear indication that her actions are not alright. Just a verbal berating clearly wouldn't work, because Tala has been actually hoping that her father dies quickly to avoid this situation (which is wild by itself and shows how disfunctional the whole thing is).
