In one of the Drizzt books, a pair of wizards planning to fight some illithids swap the locations of their brains and what should be in their butts, to take advantage of the conical shape of mind blasts when they teleport within arm's reach of their targets. After the failed mind blasts, the illithids attempt brain sucking while the wizards begin their spells, and the narration notes that the wizard was surprised by how recognizable the look of utter disgust was on even their alien faces.
