Here's another example of ghosts unaware of their own demise. That episode of Paranoia Agent where the 3 suicidal chat room meeters try to commit the unthinkable. Through the whole episode they try to end their lives, only for one of them to find out near the end they were already dead. Rather than try to continue the cycle of futility, they decide to live as a family and go on vacation. A dark, but peaceful reminder that the ending is only the beginning again.
