New Video: Violence

Boney M!

I've often thought that because so much of our species' life was spent dealing with violence and death and gore, we have an innate expectation of it. I think there is a sort of disquiet in us to live in a safe and sterilized world, which causes some to rebel and be more violent than society wants, and others to release the pressure by enjoying simulated violence through entertainment. It's so unusual that most of us eat meat without ever killing, and don't usually deal with the aftermath of death and violence ourselves but outsource it to hospitals and funeral homes. That's all so new to us as a species.

had to up my contribution level after this one. keep going, they're great!

Stop giving justifications :D. I wonder where all those whiners were when you were being attacked by the neo-fascists.

Seconded

I found this video to be disturbing, but on point. I especially loved the scenes of you in the catsuit on your knees. You only briefly covered the the topic of consensual violence, but you covered the entire topic exceptionally well like usual.

Such a rich reflection! You picked your examples perfectly, as Alex is first an amoral sadist and then a victim of socially accepted violence perpetrated by the state (and the book is way more violent than the film, incidentally). And yes, FF fails a bit when pretending violence in fictional works doesn't include catharsis element, but Anita's point was mostly that such violence served only the fantasies of (mostly) white men. I really like the intellectual videos of yours :D and I just think you compressed this one a bit too much: one video should be just for the study of sadomasochistic elements in our society, other for the portrayal violence and its appreciation and 4556556634 about the legitimacy of violence. I loved the tweets and I'm glad Tabby loves some milk :D. And the music was powerful!

An excellent video, I think the more experimental parts landed well; if anything, it's your meta commentary that seemed out of place for the topic at hand. Good discussion, I'll probably make a response to the content once I sober up.

Expertly produced, but I think the writing of this one was a little jumbled and it all came out in a rush. This may just be a topic that needs more time or more than one video.

Somebody give this woman her own Netflix series!

Etienne Ammoun

Well done. Appreciate your resistance to providing a neat resolution on such a thorny topic. Most videos lazily offer centrist bromides and moralistic twaddle--while offering little in the way of irony, wit and, yes, glamour.

Loved it! The two-shot in the BDSM scene was interesting, it was an excellent way to have a dialogue that was both funny and appropriate for the discussion, excellent stuff Nat!
