Pre-Transition Videos

I'm posting to let you all know that I have finally decided to remove my pre-transition videos from YouTube (everything before August 2017). For those of you who still appreciate the content of those videos, I have posted the transcripts of them to my website: https://www.contrapoints.com/transcripts/archives
This has not been an easy decision to make, and it's something I've struggled with for a couple years now. I'm aware that some of you love those videos, and will be sorry to see them go. Others of you are fascinated by the video record of my transition, before and after. And I myself have mixed feelings about removing content I put so much work into during a different era of my life.
However, when I ask myself, "What do I want to do about this? What's best for my own happiness and mental health?"—the answer is simple. The existence of these videos on my channel is a continual source of pain and shame. They do not represent the person I truly am. I'm simply not comfortable with people watching them. And I will be much happier and more at peace with them gone.
So I hope you all will honor my decision to remove them. I am aware that people who want to hurt me, or who simply don't care about my well-being, will not respect this choice. But I hope I can at least count on my own community of fans and supporters to understand and support my wish.

I respect you so much. Hope you're doing well in these times. Your mental health is more important to me than public access to those videos any day.
I mean, I'm a patron since before your transition, so the videos that got taken down are literally the reason I became a patron. It's amazing, groundbreaking work that I believe redefined what was possible for the platform. It's nice to have the transcripts preserved but that's only one facet of what made that work significant and worthwhile. I mean, nobody is the same person that they were 4 years ago but that doesn't make that person any less valid, does it? Or what they had to contribute less important to others? I think loving who you are now is important but that person wouldn't be here if it wasn't for who you were then? Obviously, nobody is owed anything from you but I can't pretend this doesn't seem like a great loss to anyone that never had the opportunity to benefit from seeing these works before they were removed. I guess all I can do is feel blessed to have had the chance to see them before they were removed. My memories are hazy but fond!
