Every time I rewatch this episode, I love that one line, that doesn't come up again until the last episode. I love how it went, but still think he should have returned.

The most poignant moment for me is Dawn reprimanding Buffy's defeatism, specifically with this point - "she was my friend because of you". Cassie understood that, too. Made an extra point of emphasizing to Dawn that they were, in fact, friends, and that whatever happened wouldn't be her fault. In Cassie's last week, what she knew with more certainty than a lot of people *ever* do, is that people, even strangers, can be kind; that there were new friends around every corner; that she was cared for. I also personally think the moment when she tells Buffy that Buffy will make a difference, she's understood she's still dying. I know a lot of people take Buffy catching the arrow as this "false hope" beat; how I see it is that that a lot happened at once - Cassie marvels at how close she came to still dying - Cassie *realizes she is still going to die*; whatever vision or sense of her own doom didn't abate at all - Cassie sees a glimpse into Buffy's future and assures/thanks her - Cassie dies

i know it was such a small part of the episode but i love Buffy getting defensive over Dawn "And she was your second choice?" I think this episode was another episode to just remind us that not everything is supernatural and somethings will just happen
