Being raised with impeccable manners is one of the things Lorelai had a problem with. She's so messed up by being socially constricted that she overcompensates and doesn't do it when she should, like at other people's christenings. Or at the movies.

This episode makes me so angry. It really highlights how selfish and stubborn Lorelei can be. I know Sookie invited trouble by putting them toether, but Lorelei was, assumably, raised with impeccable manners, so she knows better than to act like this at a baby's christening, but doesn't care about anything but her own grievances.
