Imagine copyright claiming a video promoting music
Jaszon Alexzander
Copyright claimed, god damn it :p

Great video! I liked how you didn’t shy away from repeat artists. I truly think what has made this such a quality year was that we had real pop stars who could have more than one hit per album cycle. I do feel Chappell/Sabrina of 2024 remind me of Lady Gaga/ Katy Perry of 2009/2010. My bet for this year would be Doechii to have a big moment. Again great video, always love the best list
Jonathan P
Music Videos which feature karaoke of that song, referenced in the honorable mentions. https://bsky.app/profile/ownsongkaraoke.bsky.social
Anon’s A Ms.
Which Bluesky account?
MikeVG
It took me a disturbingly long amount of time to realize #4 was referring to the movie and not the Roman goddess. Also, Tennessee is considered midwest?
Kristopher Bluth
I'm a fifty-year-old guy, so my exposure to modern pop music is naturally a bit limited, but I was honestly tearing up a little near the end. I may mostly watch for OHW and Trainwreckords, but everything you do here is valuable. Thanks.
Phoenician
The video I look forward to the most every year -- I know the negative reviews get more views and whatnot, but I always appreciate the Best of list. It's not everyday we see Todd put some skin in the game.
Phoenician
Thought it would at least get an honorable mention myself.
Phoenician
Maya Hart forever d:
Russet Burbank
Been that way for years
Russet Burbank
"Make me Juno" has "Failed Followup segment of OHW" written all over it. I guess people like it tho "Birds of a Feather" sounds mid when you hear it on the sound system at a fast food joint, but this list might make me re-evaluate it
Bryan R. Powers
Todd, this is such a solid list of songs. Each year, I look forward to list to keep me even semi-informed on the pop landscape. I get that burnout is real and it sucks, but just be sure to also take some time for yourself, man. We love you, and we’ll be here for you.
Jackson S.
Todd taking a subtle jab at punk rock mba lol
Arbor Rainier
ummm you forget abt mgk ? that bitch is DRIPPING with feminine energy
Giulia Bertacchi
I thought the same thing, when he put good luck babe at number 2 I was wondering who the number 1 could be if not Chappell. Did not disappoint in the slightest
Nigel G
Calling "Birds of a Feather" a silly love song is kinda weird to me. I like it, but it feels chilly, and the subtext reads to me like it's about a doomed relationship. When Billie sings "I'll love you til the day that I dieeeeee," I just want to give her a hug and tell her she'll be OK in the long run. Also: Great list!
Becca, lobster no longer!
1. Espresso *kills* at strip karaoke 2. The most apt observation about Chappell Roan is that she was trying to become gay famous and accidentally became regular famous 3. Pink Pony Club is also very popular at strip karaoke
Will Seamon
I was in Asheville a few months ago and can confirm this
JD
Stacked list. Great work
Daniel
2:03, "triangle" gets cut off Amazing list
Andrew Lenahan
I believe there were no women on Todd’s worst list lol
Andrew Lenahan
“He’s not going to put Chappell Roan as the top 2, is he?” - my partner, right before he did exactly that
Austin F
i haven't been there, but i have heard that asheville is like, a lesbian capital. it checks out to me; as someone from virginia (DC suburbs babeyyyyyyyy), the middle states of the east coast are a weird place where you'll get some of the most blue areas in the country in some parts, then 50 miles away it's the absolute worst
Austin F
also, the thing i took away from both my own observations and your lists is that, outside of hip-hop, the girls absolutely blew the men out of the water this year
S. R.
Watched it again to see your edits and I'm crying again!! Bravo x2!!
Jesse
Please continue to do it for the money, Todd!
Spalfos
The Monkey’s Paw gave me the foresight to get into Pink Pony Club when it dropped in 2020, at the cost of having to be that guy who says “I started listening to Chappell Roan in 2020” every time she’s brought up
Jack Dover
“For a straight guy I have a surprising amount of gay friends” - Todd you’re as obsessed with pop music as we are, that’s why we all love you ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Arbor Rainier
easily one of the all time best list reveals from todd imo
Arbor Rainier
truly the rise and fall (and rise again !) of a midwest princess
Arbor Rainier
fantastic video as usual ! i would've put money on good luck babe being your #1 but then your actual #1 was revealed and it made a lot of sense. i was not expecting your #3 but that's one of my personal fav hits of the year so i was very pleasantly surprised :,) btw as a trans person, thank you for existing ! your videos have brought me so much joy over the years
Str00p
List so good I had to watch it again right after, couldn't even wait for the fixes lol. God what a beautiful year for music and only that (Ending kinda made me emotional too :'3)
Adequately Sized Dog
I definitely thought Not Like Us was a lock for #1. Looks like it's mostly a justifiable set of songs in the top 5. Imagine if Not Like Us ends up being the Smells Like Teen Spirit of hip hop and it ends up sweeping away Drake and his influence off the charts. It would then be interesting to look at what the critics put ahead of it in retrospect. Then again, Royals' nuking the LMFAO era of music took a short while to take hold and was not immediately obvious at the time.
Nim Pseudo
The opening verse of Pink Pony Club still makes me tear up every time I hear it—or even just let it play in my head. "Where boys and girls can all be queens, every single day..." God. You are spot-on that this is the energy we need to hold onto for the next year and beyond. Thanks for all you do, Todd; your work is art in its own right.
Jonathan P
Wait, that bluesky account about music videos with karaoke is you?
Liza Boudreau
Juno is the absolute best song on Sabrina’s album and I feel so validated to see it on here!
Thiago Nunes
I suffer from being brazilian and 1 dollar on patreon is kinda of a luxury, but this is probably your top 10 best list I was most anticipating. Chappell Roan, Kendrick, Sabrina Carpenter... 2024 is an amazing year in pop music that I, for once, don't feel the big disconnect between USA charts and our international hits, because it was just as big as it was good, and you matched that energy on this video. Thanks! P.S.: A fitting ending. Stand up for your friends, Todd, they will need it. This clownworld doesn't stop its fucking show, and the feeling of hopelessness from lgbt+ every time those clowns show up is, sadly, pretty global.
RedBedroomRecords
I mostly know Sabrina for playing Maya's best friend on Girl Meets World, the Disney streak for producing superstar singers continues!
Jonathan P
For the best list, yes. Taylor was 1-2 on the worst list the year of Reputation.
Alicia Kahre
This is the best best list you’ve ever done!
Alaina
It’s okay that it’s late!! Your videos are always worth waiting for. Also. Do what you need to do to help yourself with your burnout and fatigue. I don’t mean “Do what you need to do and then come back” I mean do whatever it is you *need* to do, even if it’s taking a long hiatus or just stopping TITS entirely. To be happier, to be healthier, regardless of the expectations of the audience you’ve accrued, do what you need, and thank you for everything you’ve given us. I’m going to be watching your whole catalog on repeat for the rest of my life as a source of peace and I can’t thank you enough for that. Happy new year!!
Christian Reiswig
Minor nitpick: I think you said “Slow down, be humble” when the lyric is “Sit down, be humble”. Great vid !
Shiny Skunk
This list brought me a lot of joy in a terrible month, thanks Todd.
Michael Dominic
It might be a me problem, but it looks like an encoding issue around 18:40-18:42
duke86fan
I think this is the first time the top 2 spots were the same person
Alex Woo
The music released in 2024 had been so good I wish Todd made his honourable mentions 10-minute long or maybe mention it in a later video.
margo
I had a rough day at work and this video - like having a good pop song on the radio - popped up and helped me out. Thanks!
David Lloyd Bricken
Thank you so much Todd, made my whole day magical from the beginning.
Amelia Ross
This made me tear up at work dude
Mickey
Nah, I think this would have at least made honorable mention in any year for Todd. His infamous love/hate relationship with Katy Perry is evidence enough imo. I think at worst in his early years he may have made a review of it similar to the one he did of Rhianna's S&M-- except probably more complimentary, since S&M's production is objectively messy and Espresso's and Juno's are honestly kind of immaculate. Side note: if you dislike the songs/artist or are annoyed specifically by her lyrics, then that's fine. You don't need Todd to validate that for you. It's a music opinion. And I'm sure you can find someone nitpicking the lyrics to your heart's content on the internet if that is the itch you're looking to scratch.
The Hand Of The People
This. This is why after a decade and a half, you are still the best on this platform, and why I would wait six months for a video like this if I had to. Your Chappell dissertation, the buildup to the Birds of a Feather entry (which genuinely had me worried you were gonna diss it), and just the most purely enjoyable, all killer no filler list since probably the 2017 edition... Hopefully 2024 wasn't a fluke and this year we don't go back to endless samples and interpolations and country backwash, but I'm glad you're still around to dunk on pop, and more importantly, cherish it
Private me
to be fair that was "trying to be like nostalgia critic" todd I rather him be hos true self.
Stormy K.
When it became clear that Sabrina was going to have a banner year, I did actually think about your predication. Toddstradamus never misses!
pixarfan9510
This is my favorite list ever. Nothing but straight bangers and bops
SPBurke
"Good Luck Babe" was the first Chappell Roan song I'd really heard, and when I did, I instantly got why she was popular. And I rarely say that about anybody.
Bailey Vogt
I love the idea of Kendrick, Sabrina and Chappell starting a group chat called Todd's Two Entries
Kelley Runyon
Great list, so many good songs. Is it basic that I expected Apt.? It's just so poppy and happy and god I want happy songs.
Bailey Vogt
Hey Todd! At 2:04 Olivia Rodrigo steps on your line a bit
Jay Dee
Man this really was a good year for pop music, I actually recognized and heard over half these songs! Also based putting Tyler above Kendrick ultimately
Marc Roizman
a few errors i caught: 21:54 random text on the screen for a sec 33:29 weird cut loved your picks this year! something i read was that after pink pony club initially flopped, chappell wrote California, about how she was homesick and felt like a failure. it's almost the antithesis of Pink Pony Club, and it's super interesting listening to the 2 side-by-side.
Alina
Well, of all the songs that appeared on the list, the one that got stuck in my head (for the rest of the day, I assume) is #2.
John in Ottawa
Any errors I saw have been mentioned by others so I won't bother. I will say though that I always appreciate your Best list Todd. It's good to celebrate what's good instead of just dwelling on the bad in life. Thank you.
Brandon Hay
Other people got a lot of the glitches I noticed, I would add that the transition around 6:59 feels like it could be a little smoother. You know how I know last year was the greatest year for pop in my lifetime? For the first time, I know every one of these songs, and I love all of them. And as a queer member of your audience? Your explanation for the number 1 pick made me legitimately emotional. This is one of your absolute best videos yet.
Sara
nodded in complete agreement at every single song, ESPECIALLY the top 5. good fucking picks. what a year.
David L. Lebovitz
Luke Combs grew up in Asheville and went to college in Boone, basically the communist enclaves of Western North Carolina. Better odds than not he's got decent-ish politics.
Henry Kiley
This might be my favorite Todd episode to date. What a celebration. Not a single song I disagreed with, though many I would have added if I could.
Caroline Cash
The ad read into TV off had me cackling, thank you so much
Alina
33:33 seems to cut off abruptly without finishing the thought?
randomguy
Rewatched to see if the errors I spotted were fixed, some were but there's still a couple of weird audio cuts at 2:45 and 33:29 Visual glitches at 3:04 and 3:32
Arrow Willmore
I had one day late last year where I drove up and down the highway for a few hours. listening to Pink Pony Club on a loop. It made me cry, it was a beautiful experience. I remember thinking how gorgeously timeless it is. Great pick 🥹
Arrow Willmore
Yes yes yes yes!!! Great List
Shosh
I miss the Todd that would have eviscerated Sabrina Carpenter’s shitty lyrics
Theo Sloan
I really really enjoyed this one! The editing was definitely rougher than usual (especially the Espresso section), but I'm sure that'll be fixed before the public release. Incredible work, Todd!
Alx
Time to update my playlist ^^
Molly Shah
Can someone post the direct link? I keep clicking it and it tells me to sign in to YouTube (which I am in my browser) but giving me no place to do that
Jenna
The Charli section could probably use an epilepsy warning
Will Seamon
This list has absolutely no misses
Emanuel Alfredsson / Lemanic
The video seems to be processing and to checked a bit later.
Austin F
i like pink pony club a lot (much more than good luck babe, which i think is just fine). the fact that parts of it are a little messy and awkward makes it way better to me. it really authentically captures the feeling of being a sad and repressed gay that watches musicals and wishes for a place where you can be unafraid. the fact that the fantasy isn't very realistic, the moments that are a bit oversang, the awkwardness of her mom even saying "pink pony club", it makes it feel more real. I can distinctly remember being this sad gay teenager. it hits hard. Definitely a special song that I bet will stick around edit: also, chappell is such a good singer, and i'm really glad that our two biggest breakthrough girls this year (chappell and sabrina) are genuinely great vocalists. don't get me wrong, i love plenty of singers that are just 'decent' at singing, but it's just nice to hear!! another way chappell is similar to gaga lol
Rich Kee
Another great list, and not a surprise to see which artists made it (especially those who made it twice). I know these videos are a massive pain in the ass to make, but it would be neat if you made a video or just a podcast episode of what your accumulative Best and Worst would be since you started the show.
Riley Greenstein
I'd love to know what exactly your criteria for hit songs is now that you've expanded it. Either way, great list!!!!!!
Sam Jones
I am so happy (and surprised) to see your non-hit Honourable Mention on this list. That song made me cry a bit when I first heard it.
Gordon Stearns
As a lesbian who is currently experiencing an absolutely devastating unrequited love, I would like to thank you for explaining to me that Good Luck, Babe was written specifically to make me feel better about my situation. I'm not even joking, I genuinely didn't notice until I watched this video. Ally of the year.
Michael Jones Jr.
They're right... Please fix the glitches and the title.
J Singh
33:29 Todd line needs to blend better
J Singh
TV's off segment's outro seems to cut out early before the "number 7"
J Singh
Error around 3:05 and right at the start just before the clock
S. R.
Full on bawling at the end. Bravo. I appreciate you.
Clementine Danger
I'm never going to call a Best of Last Year list in JANUARY "late." Fuck off. Anyone who releases Best Of lists before the year is over is a click-hungry hack.
Zack
The reveal for #8 is immaculate
Austin F
OH MY GOD i'm so glad someone else loves Juno as much as i do!!! it's so much fun and is literally the most catchy song of the year. sabrina sounds like she's in heat on it and every single instrument in it absolutely shreds, and it's perfect
S. R.
"as a born hater I have to respect the master" 😂😂😂
Lizzie
Great list. I didn’t like Good Luck, Babe! at first and it hit me like a truck this last weekend. Absolute belter.
Joseph Bergeron
At the start of the video, just before the clock, you're words are cut off
Hugh
Gets a bit glitchy visually at 3:30 and 18:30. Audio seems to cut off at 0:25 and 33:25. Title on YT says "worst" instead of best. Apart from that, amazing, thank you Todd for your hard work!
Erik Friedlander
Some of your voice clips are cut off early at some point during most songs. Large parts of Espresso, especially from 2:30-3:15 13:13. A bunch more. Otherwise, love it! Fun as always 😁
randomguy
Error checking: Starting about 2:45 the next few cuts seem to happen too early, the ends of your sentences keep getting cut off. Again at 13:10 audio cuts before you finish your sentence and jumps to the next. I think it may happen again at 33:17, a couple of words at the end of sentences feel cut off.
Lennon Riley
enjoying the video so far but there's definitely some choppy editing moments where sentences are cut off before they end
I, II, II, IL
Question, even though it wasn’t a hit, what was your thoughts on Starburster, seeing its making everyone’s best songs of the year list?
Theo Gerome
YouTube title text is wrong, it says Worst instead of Best
BadCapBucky
It’s 1:48 here and you just got fullscreen privileges on my TV
Liam Omega
.It's only in 360p (maybe not an error right now) It's titled The Worst on YT, the first clip of you seems to be cut clearly, same with parts of the Sabrina pick. That's all the ones I caught, but I probably missed some due to the tears of joy I had in my eyes watching this. I had never been more excited for the Best list, and for the first time every song on your list was a song I knew and loved (even most of the honorable mentions) when I barely listen to modern music. Also your writing was amazing as usual! That's why you're the GOAT.
Danny Ryan
9.40 am here....beautiful, I needed a reason to blow off work for another40 mins or so
bootaro kujo
1:39 am……… how could youuuu
Jacob Dickens
I knew I stayed up til 4:30 for a reason
