Having recently cried in my car admitting to a friend "I don't trust others to hold my wants and needs in their hearts" this hit home for me. It's not the same, but it was close enough to stir up those same feelings. And that old wound is still sore, esp. trying to mend and rehabilitate it. I wish you luck in doing the same for your old wounds, however deep yours run.

I imagine it was really hard to make this, but I really appreciate it. I need to share this with some friends, I'll see if I can gift them a sub or something, thank you very much <3

Fun fact: DBT was created by a Zen practitioner. It’s not overlap, it is the same thing, but secularised.

Gawd. I have a friend this made me think of and now I am thinking about it as the friend who offers patience and grace and wants to offer more but what to do when someone is really resistant to the possibility that others genuinely do want to help?

You have a very skilled and wise friend. I learned similar viewpoints in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. It was very effective in treating my sense of isolation, low self-esteem, and interpersonal issues. I didn't have a diagnosis that people who take it usually have (like PTSD, bipolar, or addiction) but I am forever grateful that my therapist encouraged me to take it. I started practicing Buddhism since then and there are a lot of overlapping principles with DBT.

I love your friend’s approach This is also something that gets easier with practice! I’m trans so I’ve had a lot of practice

"Because if they let you down, you will do something about it." Keeping with the outer space theme, this is like a gamma-ray burst of hope through a universe of darkness.

*googles a minute* yeah totally!

Because you need to hear it, my only son.

"It's worse, you refuse help that is offered" Why are you calling me out like this?
Ian Danskin
"bummed out" is an appropriate aesthetic reaction
Susan Wenger
It's bumming me out that I can't share these.

Ow. I felt that in my soul.
