That would explain why sometimes the lip moments match up. I tried really hard to confirm one way or the other but couldn't find a definitive answer.

I think it would seem out of character fro a weasel like Karkaroff to be a auror or so anti dark magic anyway so the names probably just a coincidence

Perfect review, as always As a Russian, a little stressed about all the KGB-aurors thing. And also not sure, if Karkaroff's origin is revealed somewhere in canon/canon-ish materials, but his name and surname do not look unreasonable for a Russian character

I think it was originally written and acted in English by Italian actors, and then they dubbed it using English speaking people.

Got to love however that the page quote for it is ""Three drops of this and even You-Know-Who himself would spill out his darkest secrets." And that's coming from Snape, so he he would reasonably be expected to know.

Also I'm 100% with you on dubbing. It's SO annoying when the lip movements don't match, and reading subtitles is just fine for me.

On the one hand, I do like the look of the Soviet Aurors, but the fact that they are SOVIET Aurors raises SO MANY questions. First it implies a close connection between the USSR and the Russian wizards, which would have to be against the Statue of Secrecy, but more importantly the way the wizarding world works almost ALL wizards would qualify as bourgeoisie, a wizarding world worker's revolution would look a lot more like the goblin wars! And that ignores the fact that, due to the way magic works, there isn't the large industrial base for individuals to own.
