My sympathies with you on your reaction to horror movies, and my admiration for making it through, even with someone else. Why must so many iconic, 'must watch' movies be horror films??

Glad that the horror movie I requested (Village Of The Damned/The Midwich Cuckoos) isn't gory. I'll be sure not to request The Hellbound Heart/Hellraiser, but I might just have to request The Fly - the 1950s one with Vincent Price - I haven't seen the Jeff Goldblum one and don't plan on seeing it. Not cause of the gore cause I LOVE Hellraiser, but because I love Vincent Price and Jeff, while cool, will never be Vincent Price cool.
Love this movie! Kind of confused about your interpretation of the ending. Carpenter has said that at least one of the last two survivors is an alien.

The prequel is essentially the same movie, but with less impressive SFX. Not worth your time.
