I thought Individualism was about being confident in one's self and going against the norms or status quo. And that capitalism can be evil but there are also ways to portray it in a good light. A hero being right about something but being ignored by everyone else could be interesting, but I do agree that it would be ridiculous to solve all that in a chapter. I would like to see that conflict across a novel rather than in a single episode. And I will admit that I don't have any knowledge about Objectivism other than knowing it involves capitalism and individualism.

Good writing can cover a multitude of sins. It's possible to make almost any ideology into an interesting story, though difficult to do so without coming across as preachy. However, a hero that is always right but nobody listens to combined with problems being introduced and solved within the same chapter is beyond dull. I've always considered it odd that Atlas Shrugged managed to convince anyone that Objectivism is a good idea.

I always wondered if there was a way to positively portray capitalism and individualism. I haven't read Atlas Shrugged but heard that those are two themes in Rand's ideology of Objectivism. But do you think those themes could be positively portrayed or not?

Hold up a minute... Heavy handed symbolism... problems solved immediately after they're introduced... a nonsense view of the future based off of poor understanding of reality... It's Atlas Shrugged!
