Do you mean the discussion of which season is weaker and so on?

Don't really understand the motivation behind some comments on here when only one episode has been watched by Nikki and Steven - of course share those opinions at the end of the season, or series as a whole, in discussions, but why go into depth so early in their season 4 / TLK journey ? I'd hate to start a first watch of show/season & read stuff like that...hoping that there are mods who will filter the comments - equivalent of spoilery stuff IMO - not trying to offend anyone but I genuinely don't get it π€·

Hm. It wasnt as amazing as the first 3, however even they had their problems. Pacing, some interesting choices, some shitty stories like skade and the undead bjorn. 4 Still has a lot to offer. And 5 is my second favorite. Ive rewatched the show 7 times now.

Agree. I think it is more because the first three seasons kept true to the books. Not 100% the same but close enough that the story retained the semblance of the true history. With Season 3 they did start to diverge more, but seasons 4 and 5 went totally off the rails. I still enjoyed them but really couldn't understand some of the basic changes made.

Ok. I feel I need to say that season 4 is still an amazing season. Season 3 was probably the best of the show (last season of Alfred as well), so maybe that's a reason people think season 4 is the weakest. I kind of agree with that, but that is in comparison with the other seasons. It's still an impressive season and let's say in comparison to Vikings or Game of Thrones, where the later seasons were somewhat weaker, on TLK, the quality is still extremely high.
Daniel Lewis
I agree but I think that's more of a reflection on how amazing seasons 1-3 were because I still thought season 4 was good and I really enjoyed season 5 and for me the final episode was one of if not the best series final ever.

Season 4 is the worst season, in my opinion. Season 5 was ok, but it doesn't hold to 1-3.

Guys I'm reading the books that this show is based on and just to let you know the Ubba Uhtred fights in season 1 (I think) is the son of Ragnar Lothbrok!

Personally, the worst thing done in this show, was them trashing all of those books & scrolls of knowledge. Now THAT's sacriledge!!! lol JK..but ugh!! It riles me good. "Travis with a K" I know. I also thought that the girl was Utred's daughter. I think we were meant to think it. The hammer is the reason. Finnan doesn't have to say anything; just his face makes me laugh. Aelfric knows Utred is coming. Great start to a season. Oh, also...gorgeous kitty-kat, that Fin.

Only saw couple eps of s5, but my frustration with the new showrunners is editing and camera style. Not steady/smooth. Some dialog not as impactful
Ashley
@nikki mentioning it feels different. I said the same! Turns out the creator left after season 3. Steven will notice the style of handheld camera (a bit shakier), angles, and editing. Too many cuts. It is felt more later on. Editing not as smooth. I sonβt like the camera shots that move with the handheld. I treat 1-3 as like a complete story. And this new era. I love characters, and so I kept on! Some of dialog is not same. Example, instead of saying half a moons turn, they said two weeks. Dialog not as sharp, but Iβve not seen the ending! Waited for yβall!!!

So just to clarify the one thing that you guys mentioned about aelswith... she isn't destroying all of Alfred's belongings. She's pissed because Edward is allowing his father in law to destroy the legacy of Alfred. Changing the way they write history... removing all of Alfred's books and writings. Aelswith is not the one who is doing that. She is insulted by what's happening in the palace.

After season 5 there will be a movie that finishes the books. I believe itβs called Seven Kings Must Die. Itβs suppose to come out next year I think. I love your comments on these episodes. So much fun.

The girl is a Dane in East Anglia. Athelred's men slaughtered them. This season is awesome. Its not the weakest as some would suggest, But you do feel the absence of Alfred. But some awesome new characters are emerging.

This season is different as you pointed out. Although Netflix got the show in season 3, the same show runner ran the first three seasons and 4 is when Netflix put new people in charge. There are a few disappointing moments in an otherwise good season as they tried to find their footing but it still is the weakest season. Still fantastic and a good setup for the final season; just a few moments that were badly handled

The girl with Thor's hammer was a Dane. They made a point to show that she wore Thor's hammer to distinguish her as a Dane and to understand that the people getting slaughtered by the Mercians where Danes. She is not significant. I can't wait for you to see the rest of this season. It has some flaws that always bugged me (in the writing department) but all in all it is a fantastic season. And Aethelflead and Uhtred are fantastic this season.
